We are a young family looking for a 2/3 bedroom tent with a large living space that is easy to put up. Something that would keep the spiders out would be great. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks Davinci

Hi davinci and welcome to UKCS a most addictive website. Would need a little more info before we could comment, Budget, Bedrooms close together or apart.
Hi davinci, bedrooms apart, this normally fulls into the area of a Dome tent. These have bedrooms on opposite sides of the main living room. Main drawbacks of this typ are that on the majority of them the inner is pitched first, normally not a problem, but would be if its raining. Tunnel tents (Montana 6) have bedrooms located next to each other. I would recommend a SIG (Sewn In Groundsheet) on the tent to keep the bugs out. Their are a couple of Dome tents this year that are pitched all in one or outer first, these being the Vango Killington's or the Outwell Nebraska. Both are nice looking tents with both makes having a good name. The Vango fits within your budget and the 600 has three bedrooms. Would recommend though you go and see as many tents as you can before you buy. There are a lot of other tents out there I Am sure some other members will point you to. What ever you choose have a great year camping. Not sure where you live but Crosscamping very good and helpful

Thanks for the help so far. We like the look of the Gelert Satalite 6, do you know anything about these. There are a lot of tents out there that look the part but as we are not experoenced we are not sure which ones are good ones.
Doing my bit to promote Wild Country tents again!! (commission please!) We just got a Wild Country Halo 73 - great quality tent from a top notch manufacturer - the bigger Halo 104 could be just the job for you. The new 2007 model retails at £450, but the virtually identical 2006 model is being sold off for £250 here at the moment
We have just put an order in for a Khyam Ontario 8.
It looks straightforward to put up, has SIG to keep spiders out, large living area with excellent height and 3 good size bedrooms with enough height to stand. If you only need 2 bedrooms one pod can be left out leaving even more living space. It is a tunnel tent and so does not have a huge footprint for the size of tent. Costs £199 with a free footprint groundsheet from World of Tents.
Maybe worth taking a look at this or the slightly smaller Onterio 6.
A mate of mine bought the ontario 8 only last week, so we took it in the garden and was quite surprised how easy it was to erect, full SIG , detachable bedrooms either end, can be used as a 4 bed tent by use of seperation sheet (supplied), large living area, door either side, I like my dome, but i was very impressed with this, its perfect for the 5 of them, AND may i add, no sooner had we got it up, the heavens opened, and so we decided to leave it up all night, it rained until around 10am the next day, we went out to take it down about 3pm, looked inside "dry as a bone" was well easy to get back in bag, but getting the rest in was a bit of a squeeze, so now its been wet and dried, hes all ready for august. Bob.
We have the Gelert Satellite 6 you mentioned.(see my gallery) Great tent, loads of head height and plenty of bedroom space. Not hard to pitch once you get the hang of it, pitches fly sheet first however it doesn't have a sewn in groundsheet which you may want to help keep out the spiders. A great tent for not too much money though.

We can highly recommend the Khyam Ontario aswell. Eazy peazy to put up, flexible accommodation and nice and roomy. This year's model also has a 5000mm density fabric which means it withstands the rain even better now!
It has a conventional oblong footprint and is much more efficient than the dome and pod types. It also pitches outer first which can be very useful.
We do recommend purchasing the very wonderful delta pegs for the guy ropes though to improve stability and wind resistance - any tunnel tent will benefit from using deltas.
Cheers thank you all for your reply we'll just have to spend the next 7 hours staring at the net finding out about theese tents i'll let you know how we get on and ask for more help later.
we are a family of 3 who have a Khyam Excelsior XXL. 2 bedrooms, large living space, great height, very easy to erect, pitch outer first so not a problem with getting the bedrooms wet but it doesn't have SIG so may be crawlies but other than that i thinks its a good tent.
Hi davinci,I have just got rid of my Gelert Satellite 6 because the bedrooms were a bit too small, although the living area was very big. I now have a Sunncamp Mondial 1200 which has much bigger bedrooms and an equally big living area. I have seen it for £325 on one website. It is a large tent so if you're worried about pitch sizes maybe it's not for you. I found talking to the site owner before booking and being honest about the size of your tent would alleviate any of those kind of problems.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
