Hi
Could anyone please tell me if I have the option of turning the 2 separate sleeping compartments into one large bedroom in the 2006 model?

thanks for your help.

Hi. I've got the next size up so can't help on the bedroom, but would thoroughly recommend the halo. Give terra nova a ring and ask.

Thanks for that, I'll give them a ring - wish I'd read more on this forum before buying the vango last week - is the halo totally weatherproof?

I don't think any tent is totally weatherproof but I'd say the halo is pretty near weatherproof. We've used ours since February on a number of trips in pretty foul weather i.e. prolonged rain and wind and we've not had a drop come through. It's also stood strong in the wind which is helped by the steel poles. The central area is guaranteed to be totally weatherproof, the bedrooms are not, but we've not had any problems anywhere.

There's not much on here about the halos, they seem to have been overlooked in favour of the more popular brands, but in terms of quality and design I'd say the halo deserves to be 'up there' and given the problems experienced with leaks on some of the big brands perhaps more people will start to look at these as an option.

thanks! very close to ordering one but OH is suggesting more research maybe he's right, but I looked at loads of the popular brands before going for the vango. Have to admit I'm surprised I never thought of wild country and the like because didn't think they would do bigger tents!

I think I've been really lucky up to now as both the light wave and eurohike have stood up incredibly well in prolonged stormy weather so I'm still in shock with the vango and will be looking for a refund and not a replacement.

Thanks so much for the info

The reason I bought the halo was because we started camping out of season in a 2 season tent (yes I know, it was crazy!) and I really wanted something that was sturdier and more capable of handling worse weather. I know that the halos are still only 2 season rated but given that the manufacturers make mountaineering tents I figured they'd be pretty rugged. Also, how the hell would you fit kids into a 4 season bivvy anyway?

I'm please with my choice although OH still pretends he hates it (says porch is too low even though it makes no difference when you're sat down ) and it gives us the opportunity of camping for more months of the year, not just the summer.

However, I agree that you should do as much research as possible. I did before getting the halo in terms of what else was available that had similar spec, design, price etc.

Hope you find a tent that will keep off the elements, whatever you decide!
