Hi everyone

SWMBO and myself are thinking about buying an outwell bear lake - either the 4 (if she gets her way) or a 6 (if I get mine).

Thing is, after reading all of the stuff on here about leaky outwell tents I wondered if anyone has any problems with any of the outwell 'classic' (polycotton) range of tents in this respect?

I'm really interested as if we're going to spend near on £600 on a few bits of alloy and canvas it needs to not let water in!

Thanks

Will.

Hello,

Just got a BearLake 6. Had it up over the weeekend. No issues with leaking, and very quiet in the wind. Super tent!!!!!!

Just have an issue with the front zip being tight when opening.

I would check this before buying, or ask the dealer about this

Great - thats good news then.

Out of interest did you pitch it with the door open or zipped shut? Have read a few things on here about it being easier if its pitched shut?

It's certainly not the case that all Bear Lake's have a problem with the front door zip.  Ours is spot on.  The door must be zipped shut before you attempt to guy the tent out.  Clearly if you have it open it would be quite easy to pull the front too far apart and the door won't shut.

Steve
