Hello there. We are new to camping as a family - 2 adults, 3 children 7,4 & 2. We are looking for a tent that will keep us dry and warm and last but not break the bank. Also easy enough to put up that we won't lose the children while we are scratching our heads! Tunnel tents seem a good option, they always look good and seem to have a lot of space. I would like a sewn in grounsheet as I hate draughts and will never pitch in the rain (or camp in it if I can help it!). I would appreciate any recomendations.

I was in a similar position to you last week. I've opted for a Vango Oregon 800 £200, we went for the extra space for storeage etc.
They do some smaller versions 6 and 4 berth for about £150.
Reading a number of posts on this excellent site gave me a few decent pointers. If you also go to the Vango website they show you a video of how to put the tent up that you can download to your phone or ipod and take with you to avoid the head scratching!!
I was advised to avoid the Easycamp range of tents aparently they are not particularly strong, cheap and cheerful was the description.
We're looking to buy a tent too. I've just looked up the Vango Oregon 800, it looks nice and roomy, I like the big pods, but it doesn't have a porch. I was wondering if that could be a problem - I like the idea of having a porch, somewhere for my boys to dump muddy boots, etc. What's your thoughts on this?
I have just bought a vango oregon 800 for my growing family; the living space is very roomy enough room for a corner of muddy wellies - if you want a porch think of head height as my kids kept touching the top whilst taking wellies off so we had drips in the wellies!!
