Hi, first post here so feel free to laugh at my silly questions,
Ok here goes, my other half and i have been looking at tents for about 3 weeks now and are still debating which to go for,
we have 3 kids, one of which is a total nutter and is totally fearless so we need one with a sewn in groundsheet to try and prevent escapes, my oh would like one with a porch so we can do our cooking under some kind of cover and we would both like at least 3 seperate sleeping areas,
we did decide on the vango colorado 800dlx which seemed perfect, within budget, plenty of room, all the things we wanted, until we saw one up at a local tent show and found out that it doesnt have the sewn in groundsheet, so now we are back to square one
we do like the outwell nebraska xl but we dont like the price, we will only be using it for weekends and the occasional week during the warmer weather so dont know if its worth spending alot of money on?
any help would be greatly appreciated,
Emma

If the Colorado ticks all your boxes then I'd go for it . Its a highly recommended tent.
You'll just need to work out an alternative strategy for your independent child. How old is s/he? Let's face it, if they're that determined a sewn in ground sheet isn't going to stop them and they are going to have to learn how to behave on a campsite anyway. MT

I know how you feel i have 3 children one of which is only 3 and he was bouncing off the walls when we first went because (he finds camping exciting). I ahave also been looking for a new tent but every time i set my heart on one i read bad reviews about it. The outwell hartford xl looks like a nice tent i saw one at a show and it seemed massive, it has three rooms and sewn in ground sheet, i really liked it but dont like the idea of a dome tent. The montana 6 also looks very roomy but only has two rooms, it depends on what you want , i want living space and will compromise on sleeping arrangements.

thanx for the help, there is a tent show near us at the moment, they have the hartford xl up (thats where i saw the colorado) so i think we will go and have a proper look later, my oh didnt like the hartfords because of the headroom in the sleeping areas but i dont mind that at all,
The kyam kansas 8 is a cracker tent for £199, It has all the space you need and the head height and the sewn in ground sheet. has a canopy though and not a porch but you can get another better canopy for it. have a look on outdoor megastores web site. sorry dont know how to do a link.

Hi we have a outwell Vermont L which is a great Family tent we have 2 kids 3 and 8 they go in the small bedroom on a double blow-up and have loads of room you could easily fit 3 in there depending on their ages or you could also open up the bedrooms to make 1 big bedroom, then you have the massive inner tent with sewn in g/sheet and a wardrobe we use it as a bathroom for the kids with a chemical toilet i save's us walking across a camp site at 2am when there busting. Then you have the massive porch with a bath g/sheet we have 7-8 people on chairs on rainy nights and that is with the kitchen in there as well, also on sunny days you can then open the porch right up to make the tent even bigger.Check it out at http://www.outwell.co.uk/
But there are loads of tents to choose from have a good look round as we did bu in the end the outwell came out tops it is great for us as a family.
Happy Hunting
