we pitched our new tent at the weekend and discovered it has a number of small rips in the upper back of the flysheet. They are like knife scores. There is no way we could have done it as we had just taken it out of the bag for the very first time. We bought the tent from awnings direct about a month ago and didn't check it out immediately as we had no where to pitch it until last weekend. I have emailed tom at awnings direct but had no response yet (it's been two days). I don't know this company - are they ok? will they give me a refund?
we noticed when we were taking it down that one of the poles had bent - that must have happened while it was up as I didn't notice any bent when we were erecting it - is that something we should also complain about (or is that just sign of novice tent putter uppers ? )

Awnings Direct are UBC Caravans of Wideopen, haven't bought a tent from them but buy our caravan and accessories there and they are very good. Give them a ring and I'm sure they will sort you out

we do have a cat actually but never took the tent out in our house and the bag hadn't been scored through - the cat is fairly old and decrepit and disinterested in camping to be honest (she didn't come with us)
the rips were not like cat scratches, they were like knife scores. I've never seen a cat with talons that could do that

thanks AnnH - will call them tomorrow

Climbed right up the inner tent. Lucky to still be alive
