Just got the monty 6 with footprint, carpet and extension (delivered next week) and all the other kit, ready for our first camping trip next week.
Took an hour to get the tent up, (without any arguments). But 1 1/2 hours later still trying to get it in the bag. We have folded it every way, opened the doors to get the air out, but cannot get it in the bag! Is there a way or do we need a bigger bag.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

The Monty can be a pain to get back into the bag and you are right the only way to do it is to ensure that you get all the air out. We always open all the doors and then fold along its length pins to pins, then fold again so that the pins are left on the outside and the strip you have left is the same width as the bag. There are then two options. You can role along the length of the tent a couple of times to get all the air out. Its good for a laugh if the weather is fine and it will guarantee that you will attract an audience to see what you are doing. Alternatively you can use the pole bag as a roller and use that to get all the air out. Then roll the tent up by hand as tightly as you can once (or twice if needed) and then pop it in the bag. It will still be tight but with some gentle persuasion it will go in.

we have a Monty 6, ands have folded it up four times now. We have always managed to get it in the bag on the first attempt - not necessarily the first time of folding it.
First of all fold it in two with front corner to front corner and back corner to back corner , with all the pins sticking out to the side. Then fold it in three the same way, again sticking the pins out. Then we fold it in two from front to back. I then roll on it, from the folded end to remove as much air as possible. I then roll it up from the folded end, rolling as tightly as possible. It is usually still too big, so I unroll it and then roll it up again even more tightly. I then tie the two ribbons that came with it round it.
At this point we have always managed to fit it in the bag. Make sure you leave the straps attached to the bag hanging out as you slip it in. We usually get our children to hold the end. We then fasten the straps, pull them tight snd close and zip the bag.
We use the same method as Nigel 16 fold lengthways so all pins are on one side with the doors left open. We then fold it twice again lengthwise but making sure there is about 6" of tent left that has not been folded again. Roll on the tent to get the air out, then roll the tent up. Place the folded end in the bag and then its easy to push the unfolded end into the bag.

We've found it very easy to fit back into the bag, following the way most of you seem to do it.* Fold in half, then into three (as you say, leaving the pins on the outer edge, not tucked away !) I then have best task of the day (though if you have kiddies, they would be far more suited to it), and roll along the length of it before we start to roll it away, then I get up and run back to the top, to roll along it again, this time with my O/H following me, hand rolling it as tight as he can.
This is then the perfect size to put into the bag. It's taken us a while to suss it out, but now it works every time Just to mention that we do use a ground sheet under the tent, so I don't get mucky when I do the rolly-polly bit.
*Don't forget to leave front door unzipped, and most of the windows slightly unzipped too. Makes it much easier to get the air out when packing away, and helps get the air in when erecting.

Just don't forget to zip them up again before you guy and peg out the tent next time you put it up otherwise - as I have found through experience - your zips don't zip.

Lead me not into temptation - I can find the way all by myself!
I have now tried the method shown on the outwell setup vidoe and it works perfectly. The method is so efficient that I managed to get the poles and the footprint groundsheet in the bag with the tent too.

Hi
The video on erecting the tent on the Outwell site also shows the folding method for putting away.
Havent tried it though so no guarantees

We have tried it as above and it works fine, also a slightly different way - back edge (ie bedroom end) to middle and front door edge to middle, then into half longways, and again twice I think (?) before Charlie and his Daddy roll on it and I follow on rolling it up. Same principle, not quite such a long way to roll.
My point is, I think that as long as you keep the pins to the edges to avoid them damaging the fabric, get the air out properly with the doors open, and dont start rolling until you have reduced the width to just under the size of the bag - there are a few ways of doing it so it fits really surprisingly easily.
