My family (2 kids + wife)) and i have just returned early from Knight Stainforth, Settle due to the wet weather. This was our first camping trip, but having sat under our small cheap, Halfords, Ebay, 4 man tent for 8 hours watching everybody else enjoying there dry, spacious, comfortable, expensive tents - i can see the potential! We decided to by a cheap tent, in case we didn't like it!. Now it's time to get serious! I've been looking at the Diablo 900XP, Kyham Breckenridge (Nebraska) and possibly the Gelert Tahoma 9??? A SIG is a definite must, but i would like to hear from any experience of these tents befor forking out £300 notes. Your help would be appreciated?

We are now on our second Diablo 900 - this years XP. I can't compare as I don't know the other tents, but the Diablo is an excellent tent - very well made, warm, dry and relatively easy to put up. Loads of useful features like pockets, windows etc. This years model (XP) is much improved over the previous models due to an extra pole in the bedroom pods and a couple of other design changes. You would not regret getting one! There's tons of discussions on this tent - use the search button.
------------- Hotels Suck. Villas are great but I can't take my Cadac on the plane....
my friend has the tahoma 6 ,nice tent plenty of room for 4 to sit comfortably.and he takes his dog.his wife used to cok in the porch but now they have bought a aros day tent. he got it a as a bargain from Portmadog think he paid £200 for it
Not really convinced with the Gelert Tahoma, surely the Vango 900XP is far better in quality??? Also, my wife has seen a Coleman Magellan 9 in Go Outdoors for £220, but again, is the quality any good?
We have the Khyam Brekenridge with SIG, which unfortunately has been replaced with the Nebraska, which doesn't have the SIG. Our local camping shop is refusing to stock it as he said there was a huge gap all around groundsheet.
Sorry to confuse you more but have you had a look at the Vango Aspen 700 DLX. This tent has a lot of space with a SIG and is inner pitch first which means the fly sheet which is the outer sheet is seperate so there is less chance of condensation as air flows between the two. It also has a tunnel on the front which is ideal for cooking in etc. You can pick up a 2006 model for about £300 if you look around. As with any big tent make sure you look at what size they pack down to for transporting although i tow a small trailer so this aint a problem. You will be hard pressed to find any negative comments about this tent on here.

I know how you feel We bought a Litchfield Arapaho 4 - four of us, four man tent - even had a bit between the sleeping pods. Lovely tent - used it a couple of times, and then we had the wet weekend. It rained before we went, it rained while we were setting up, and all evening. Stopped raining for about two hours the whole weekend. Having been stuck in a tent with no proper living area and two young kids, we deided to go bigger.
Went for an Easycamp Kos 6 - which looked giagantic in the shop, but was great on a campsite. Like yourselves we needed to see if we liked camping - and as we did we knew that it would be worth spending out on a bigger tent.
