i certainly will. I shall inform them of what is being said. I am sure they will recify the problems as they are a massive well respected company. I just hope that anyone who has brought one and had a fault with it has not been too inconvenienced by it and that they have been well treated and had the service they deserve when returning a faulty one
Jamie, you didn't offend, I think I've been a bit defensive with this post. I don't mean to offend anyone either. I shop at yeomans all the time in Melton and love it. Even at the display, I felt we were allowed to look through the displays before he came over, I like that. He also took the time to answer our questions. That is service I like. We made a purchase and was served with a smile.
The place where we purchased our tent has faxed a note over to Outwell because he's had 5 out of 60 come back with leaks. His main worry is that there are 55 other Outwell tents out there that he doesn't know yet if there is a problem. He has also made them aware of the this site. Had I read all this first, I would have certainly gone to another manufacturer and many others have already done so. I would hate to see Outwell get into trouble financially as I love their designs and accessories and at a time, they had a great reputation.
All in all, the company we bought ours from has treated up perfectly and has got a new tent to us within a few days.
Thanks for your help with Outwell, hopefully hearing from a member of management will help.
Although we've not bought our tent from Yeomans, they have always been extremely helpful whenever we've been to their shop in Knowle, and I would willingly buy a tent from them if they stocked one I was interested in.
After 3 problem Outwells and a 4th yet to be leak tested, I think we are all just waiting for Outwell to acknowledge that they have had quality control issues. Yes, I can hear you all crying, well stop buying an Outwell, but they suit our family's camping requirements and I am happy to be patient with them.
I remember a post last year that someone had said a salespersons heart sank everytime she sold a Sun Valley as she knew it would be returned. I'm sure some are feeling the same way as the Nebraska this year.
Hi Jamie, glad your going to get it all sorted and about time to. Look forward to hearing from Outwell at last. I haven't heard of anyone having any problems with returns as the contract with the buyer is with the retailer and not the manufactuer.
I have just taken my THIRD Outwell Nebraska XXL back to Yeomans today. The first one had various faults with it, holes in no seeum mesh, bedroom pods not stitched properly. The second leaked like a sieve. The third one, returned today, has an 8 to 10 inch gap in the SIG behind a bedroom where the tent has not actually been sewn to the SIG.
All of my tents have been returned to Yeoman`s Outdoors at Ambleside and their Customer Service is excellent. I have never had to argue, demand a replacement or anything. All I have ever done is call them, explain the problem and I have been given a replacement. We are now waiting until next year until we get our FOURTH tent from them, as we have an excellent Monty 6 that will do for now and see no point in getting another XXL just yet to let it sit in the shed. We will wait and see how the 2008 models fare and hopefully our next XXL wil be problem free.
I just want to say a big thank you to Mark and Liz at Yeoman`s in Ambleside for their excellent service and I cannot sing their praises or Yeomans high enough. I would and do recommend them to anyone and I know I will never buy a tent from anyone else but them as I know any problems are speedily and efficiently dealt with and that reassurance is fantastic.
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
I have been to lots of tent shows, particularly in the past 2 years and never in the dry ( we used to live in the Lake District... it rains alot !!)
The tents are left open and there are usually puddles, particularly in the porch/door areas. Also, I have found that tents are not always pitched well. They do get well trod, especially at permanent displays, so the quality of those on display will be a little worse for wear.
All brands had puddles.
If you are looking, then my advice would be to focus on the inside, especially the one piece Outwells....Nebraska/Vermont/Monty's etc and check the seems. Look for puddles near the seems. If there are puddles around the back of the bedrooms, for example, then I would say that it leaks as it would have been unlikely to have come through the main door. Our Nebraska (returned) leaked on all seems, except the porch, ironically.
Models such as the Outwell Georgia/Vango Diablo's etc. Do not have a canopied front door, therefore if the doors are left open, it is fairly obvious that there will be puddles in the porch.
