Hi, not sure whether i should continue after replies to my last message or do it here.... anyway, thanks alot to all who replied, your suggestions/comments very, very helpfull. I think I am gonna buy vango aspen 700 dlx (probably 2006 cos can't afford 2007!). So, honestly, peoples....is it really difficult to put up? We would practice before trip and I'm now getting help to erect. Coupla questions.... is porch big enough to cook in (don't want to cook inside tent with kids in rain) and have heard bedroom windows draughty(have 2 yr old). Was thinking about vango vail 700 (originally prefered, as seemed easier to put up but don't think bedrooms open up into bigger area) but the porch maybe too open. FINALLY! can aspen bedrooms open up to bigger, I'm sure I read this and this part is essential. Can't find my original post so can't read back over replies! Thank you so much 4 all yr help....I'll be getting back to u when I become a REAL camper!

HI, VERY NEW TO THIS. JUST BOUGHT AN ASPEN 700DLX BASED ON ALL THE VERY +VR REVIEWS POSTED ON THIS FORUM. BOUGHT THE TENT ON THE NET FROM SUMMITS OUTDOOR IN PAISLEY, 2007 MODEL ONLY £349 PLUS £3.99 POSTAGE !!! DELIVERED NEXT DAY VIA AMTRAK. BY FAR THE BEST PRICE I COULD FIND.
Hi wannabe, regarding the 2006 and 2007 aspen I've just received a 2007 model from summits, only £10 dearer than the 2006 model. You can open up the middle bedroom by folding back the seperating sheet between this and the right hand bedroom. I've looked at loads of tents over the last twelve months and believe the aspen 700 dlx is the best design going for an average family.
Hi Wannabee; just spent a great week near Poole in our Aspen 700 DLX (2006 model). The porch area houses our camp kitchen with twin burner, pot stands etc plus the fridge, BBQ when not in use, shoes, various bags of buckets and spades and a small table so yes, big enough for cooking. As you look into the 700 the left bedroom is seperate but has a zip door that can be opened into the central bedroom. We have two camp beds (plus the dog on his bed) in the centre bedroom and use the right bedroom for clothes in the front section (the 700 DLX has a clothes rail) and the back section (seperated by a partition that can be removed) for the loo. The centre bedroom and right bedroom can be combined by removing the partition piece (just rolls up).
Once you have had a few practices the 700 is not difficult to put up but it does take 2. Once we have the inner up and the outer over I sort out inside while Hubby pegs out (the guys, not literally). Follow the video instructions on the Vango website and you'll be good.
One tip - to get the outer over the inner attached a strong line to the central rear pegging point and lob the line over the inner - line up the outer and one pull it over while the someone else guides the sides. Much easier and lines the outer up a treat.
The 700 DLX is a great tent. We have spent 40 hours in ours in continuous rain and gales (always use Delta pegs on the guys) without a leak or problem. The windows are not draughty and the SIG means you are well and truly shielded from the elements and bugs.
Hope all this helps.
