After another 2 night away trip in our Diablo 900, we have decided we definately need a smaller tent for these 2 - 3 night stoppovers. Our Diablo is a superb tent, but the time and bulk involved for weekends away is a pain.
A local tent shop has a Wynnster Hawk 6 in the sale at the moment, but I have never seen one erected. It seems to tick all the boxes i.e. having a SIG, comfortably sleep OH, me and 2 kids, decent living space for rainy times and a porch for that little extra storage. Wynnster web site put erection time at 25 mins, which sounds soooo much better than the 90 mins or so our Diablo takes !
I was wondering if anyone out these has one of these tents, what do you think of them, any problems and would you recommend.
many thanks in advance

We have a Hawk 8 and can pitch it in 20 mins. We camped at the Flower of May during the Whit bank holiday storms and it held up great. We only bought a Monty 6 for the extra living area but after 2 leaking tents we are now on our third. Will still take the Hawk for weekend camping.
Just for info, there was one of these up at a local shop on display through all the torrential rain over the last month or so and i noticed during my numerous visits that it and a Mallard stayed completly dry.
thanks coastal taff and spiculum for the info .......just out of interest spiculum where did you see the hawk erected, I see your in Brum and I'm only down the road in Wolves so i might pop down and have a look if it's still up.

Just bought one this weekend. Took us about 40 mins to put up as not used to tent with SIG but hopefully will get quicker with practice.
The thing we liked about it was the porch where the kids could kick off shoes and there is room for all of us to sit in if the weather is bad but we are only looking to use for weekends.
We were looking at the Hawk 4 (£99) after hearing the adverts on Heart FM about the sale at Barretts. Once we saw it in the flesh so to speak we decided to spend the extra £30 and go for the Hawk 6.
I think though you would be hard pushed to sleep 3 in each bedroom pod. My OH lay down in the direction they show on the floor plan and he was too big at 5' 10" so we will have double beds the otherway round and should be fine as there will be only 4 of us.
This said we are pleased with our purchase and feel we had a bargin as it did have £100 off in the sale. We hope to do a test run later this month or next month.
They didn't have many left at Measham our nearest store on Saturday so I would ring first and check with your local store. They did have one on display.
They had run out of stock at my local shop in Wolves, but they were able to order one in from another branch for next week.
I was hoping to use it this coming weekend so I will probably travel and collect it myself if it's being held at a branch not too far away, with a bit of luck I may get to see one if there is a display model at the branch I collect from.....and what a bargain price.
The length of the bedrooms shouldn't pose a problem as there are 4 of us and how you describe is how we sleep in our Diablo. (a double in each pod, accross as opposed to the recommended floor plan), so it's something we are used to.
Thanks again

We have a Wynnster Eagle. Sad to say it has always caused us problems with pitching which neither we or fellow campers have been able to resolve so we are swapping it for a Vango
Managed to get me a Hawk 6 yesterday, did a test pitch in the garden which took 25/30 mins. looks just the job that we wanted. Will be using it the weekend.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
