Hello,
I have just returned from my first camping trip with our children. We would like to buy a new tent.
I am looking for a 3 large bedroom tent or possibly a 4 bedroom. I will spend upto £400 or maybe more for the perfect tent.
I have been looking at the Outwell and Vango tents, but I will look at other brands.
If anyone has any advice it will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Charlotte

We have a Sunncamp Vario 900 (2007 model) at the moment but are looking to downsize so it's on the adverts site. We've put lots of extras with it aswell - enough to kit anyone out except for beds and sleeping bags!!
I've been told I can't get the new tent until I've sold the other one (not fair!!) so we're looking for a quick sale. It has only been used once.
The Vario 900 is an excellent size and very easy to put up. Plenty of light, and although the second bedroom isn't huge the other three are. There are 3 bedrooms that sleep 2 and one that sleeps 3 but the annexe bedrooms that are meant to sleep 2 are really spacious. An extra canopy can be purchased to give you even more room. It has a SIG aswell and if you only want to use it for a weekend as a two bedroom tent you don't have to take the annexe with you.
To be honest, it's a very versatile family tent with a lot of great features and I would recommend one to anyone.
The Vango Aspen 700 is a great tent with a couple of downsides. We have 3 children 9, 7 and 4 and for size its great. It has 3 bedrooms (a double, treble and a double) Currently the last double we use as a storage area for all our clothes. Inside it's huge; we also have a Vango Oregon 800, which is our weekend tent (will explain this in a minute) which is a tunnel tent. The Oregon 800 is a big tent, but the Aspen seems so much bigger because it has more tent walls to put things against. It feels incredibly sturdy, has a sewn-in-groundsheet, a porch (which I love because it creates an area between outside and inside for shoes etc.) and because it's Vango feels excellent quality. All in all well worth the money in my opinion. HOWEVER, we bought a weekend tent because it is not easy to put up. It takes two of us and probably about 60 - 80 minutes plus to erect. We find it too much effort for a weekend. You also have to put up the inner tent first (and bring it down last) which is painful if it's raining. I suppose it's down to budget, but for 4 days or more I love our Aspen; for 3 or less, I need a nice easy to erect tunnel tent.
Hope this helps.

This is a second vote for the aspen - just can't beat it for it's stability and reliability...it took us a while to erect it when we first had it but now have it down to under 40 minutes, there is however a pitching video on the vango website which show's a simpler method and we are going to give that a go next time...I would totally agree it's a big heavy tent and we too have a smaller, quicker to erect tunnel tent for weekends, the aspen is superb but we don't use it for any less than 3-4 days.
Thanks for the advice, I think it will definately be a choice between a vango or outwell. I think I am going to find a camping superstore that has some of them erected!
