DH has decided that we could do with a smaller tent than our SV8 (which I love) for when we go away for just 2 or 3 days.  I like the look of the Minnesota 6, but Dh keeps mentioning the Montana 6.  There are us and 2 small kids, but I definitely think the 6 would be better than the 4, even for just a couple of days.

What are your expert opinions on these two?  I know lots of you love the Montana, and I've read some good reviews on the Minnesota 4, but does anyone have the 6 (although I realise there won't be much difference)?

Thanks

Fruit Pastille...the Minne 6 would be really good. It actually is only 4" longer than the 4, but...and its a big but...the width of the tent is 1 metre wider...which of course makes the bedrooms roomier. The bedroom split is 50/50 which I prefer.

The 4 will sleep you all, but the 6 is more comfortable definetely. It takes the same time to erect as the 4 and has 2" more headroom, making it feel very airy.

The only thing with the Minnes is that the doors cannot be used as canopies. If you wanted a canopy you would need to buy one.

I am not sure that there is enough difference between the Monty 6 and the SV8 to make it worth buying the second tent. iI you are looking for a comfortable weekend tent as an alternative to the SV8 then I'd be much more inclined to look at the Minnesota. MT

Thanks for your replies.  We discovered there is a Yeomans exhibition not too far away from us at the moment and they have both the Monty 6 and a Minny 4 up so dh could see both last weekend.  He agreed with me that the Monty would be no better than the SV8 for a weekend, like you said MT, so I think it'll be the Minny 6.  I do like the canopy on the Minny 6 too (although yes I realise it is pretty much the same as on the monty) so I don't think it matters about the door, although I'm sure the door has two eyelets at the bottom - what are they for if not for the canopy poles?  It's a shame it only has the two doors too - although all the websites (including the outwell site) specify 3 doors.  Can't have everything though!

Fruit pastille...its possible I may have given a bum steer on the Door Canopy thing...I just assumed actually. Perhaps you could confirm when you've checked it out.
