Apparently it is quite normal for the porch pole holders to impinge on the outer tent without causing any problems. I must admit that I was a little alarmed when I first saw this but according to many of the posts on this site, it is quite normal.

Hi archie70, we had the same problem (if you can really call it a problem) when we first bought our monty 6. There were many threads about this topic last year and I decided to take someones advice and shorten the canopy pole a little at a time with a hacksaw until it no longer touched the tent. I feel it's much better for it and looks better too. I find it hard to believe that after a long period, the rubbing against the outer wouldn't cause some sort of damage/wear and tear. (If shortening, remember to file any sharp edges.)

Valid point suns, but I contacted the supplier of the tent before I cut the pole and he said go for it, as he agreed with the proceedure. I did try adjusting the tensioners before cutting the pole but with no luck. (PLEASE DO NOT HOLD ME PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE IF YOU:- SLIP WITH THE SAW AND CUT YOUR ARM OFF, CUT THE POLE TOO SHORT AND FLY INTO AN UNCONTROLABLE RAGE, CUTTING YOUR OH'S ARM OFF, CUT THE WRONG POLE AND END UP WITH A LOP SIDED MONTY! )

Mine was doing the same, and I was concerned at first. It does not seem to affect the tent at all, my concern was because it was pushing rather a lot that the tent may leak in that particular spot, but it didnt and hasnt.
