I did a trial run pitch of my new VV500 and while the diagonal poles were a piece of cake to thread through and connect to all the pins when it came to connecting the porch pole to the second pin it was a few inches off reaching it. I got another adult to try holding it up in the middle in case that was the problem but to no avail. In the end (after about 45 minutes of trying) it took my son really squeezing the two sides of the pole as closely together as he could (I can't recall how close as I was pretty busy struggling at one end but it was close!) to get it to reach and I can't help thinking we shouldn't have to do that, particularly as I've done a search on this site and from what people have said about pitching it the porch pole should be the least of my problems. I don't want the pole to break.
There was no adjustment possible on the webbing straps but, in accordance with the instructions, I didn't peg the dome down before tackling the porch pole. I am wondering if that might help? Or if there is anything else I can do?
I had to take the tent back for another reason anyway (seam coming undone in inner sheet) so I am hoping that the first might just have been a particularly tight one and the replacement I have won't present the same problem but is there anything I can do to make that last bit easier?
If I don't reply to any messages for a bit please don't think I am ignoring you. Off work again from tomorrow and my home PC won't let me access messages while logged in although I can read them as a guest bizarrely so would be very grateful for any answers!
Thanks in advance,
Lorna.

it is a tight one but the two of us seem to manage, however last week when the tent was in use i noticed the porch bulging at the bottom right and after several attempts at adjusting guys i gave up and left it (i dont like the front porch guying method) it was,nt till we took the tent down and inspected the grey pole 2nd from bottom was actually split, getting a replacement sent out from vango ,good on you vango,,so watch how you guy the porch out, too much pressure and it could split
hi ,i dont peg anything down till all the poles are in then i positon the tent where i want it then put a couple of pegs in to stop it taking off then peg it out and guy back then front then sides, and always adjust with weather conditions, sorry put inner up before guying or it might not fit,,

Thanks, this is the way we did it but that pole was really impossible to put in unless we completely distorted it! Is this really normal? (Sorry to bang on about it!)
two black ones for the dome and a grey one with black end sections for the porch with two prebent steel connectors at the top of the grey porch pole if it is not its the wrong pole, then contact vango at port glasgow for a new one

Yep, they're the babies. Well, as I said, I had to swap the tent anyway so maybe this one will be easier. Will keep you posted. Thanks for your help!
Sorry to unashamedly bump this thread but just wanted to put out a last call before I go away for the first time tomorrow (possibly in not-too-great weather!) if anyone else might have experienced similar difficulties and/or can advise on the best way to deal with it.
