Ihave been searching the web for weeks now in search of our first family tent, and have come down to the either the outwell georgia xl or the hartford xl.I know the georgia is bigger and more expensive-best price I've seen is £329,as opposed to the hartford £225.Would really appreciate advice on whether the georgia is much more difficult to erect and any advice from anyone who has seen both in the flesh,so to speak! We live in Christchurch,Dorset and cant find anywhere that displays them both. Also we are a family of 4 one boy one girl, would the hartford give us enough space? Thanks in advance x

We have the Georgia XL and it is a super tent. It takes us about 40 mins to pitch, all in. There are three good sized bedroom pods that are larger than the Harford pods. In addition, it has a huge living area and large porch. The Georgia has 5000HH, where as the Harford is 3000HH.
My parents have a Harford L and we have helped put that up a couple of times. Both the Georgia and the Harford are extremely similar in how it is pitched. They both have colour coded flexi poles, but the Georgia has steel porch poles, so it would make the pole bag slightly heavier! They both have ring and pin system of pole attachment. You pitch them both the same way.
The Georgia clinched it for us as it had bigger bedrooms and ticked all of the boxes for our requirements.
I realise that it is more expensive, but I would say go for the Georgia. If you go to a tent show and see them in the flesh, I think that you would pick the Georgia.
I dont think I would be disappointed, although haven't seen either have looked at virtual tour and pitching video,so I suppose next best thing! Can I ask you for some advice, can you suggest where I might get a good deal? I've seen the tent for £329,but they dont stock the carpet or footprint groundsheet, would ideally like to buy together, but not essential.I'm definately swung on the 40 min pitching time, think it will take me and hubby several practises to get near!

The price of £329 is an excellent price. We bought ours in June and paid £429 (although we did get a footprint groundsheet and weindbreak thrown in). It is getting later on in the season and good deals should prevail. Even if you had to buy some accessories, it would still be a good price.
It might be worth bartering with a site/shop asking for discount for the footprint and carpet if you but them both from them.
The first time we put ours up, it took over an hour without being guyed!! It does take a bit of practice, just to get the adjustments sorted, but you will soon get the hang of it. I have no problem locating the poles onto the pins as the flexibility enables easier manouverability. We had a Nebraska XL (sent back as it leaked) and that had all steel poles... I really strugled with that.
I find the Georgia much easier to pitch than the one piece Nebraska.
Edit: I have just seen this deal...tent comes with the carpet. I'm sure that if you asked, they may give you a deal on the footprint groundsheet:
Thanks for reply, have checked world of camping and sadly sold out for the season, however, have contacted shop and can get the tent, groundsheet and carpet for £375,which I think is good,,just in the final throes of persuading hubby..... will let you know how I get on!

Wow, well done...that is a very good deal. I would go for it.
There was a thread about next years Outwell's and the changes to the Georgia are very insignificant and the price will increase, so the thread advised to get this seasons Georgia.
