Hi,

I think the pegasus 5 only has a sig for the sleeping area.

I have the wynnster orion 5, which is very similar in size & design to the pegasus but the orion consists of an inner with complete sig for the living area and bedroom plus a separate flysheet outer that goes over the top. with the orion you have to pitch the inner first and then the flysheet. pegasus pitches flysheet first.

we have only put the orion tent up once so far and it took two of us approx an hour (not bad for first attempt) - wynnster quotes a 40min pitching time for orion 5. they quote 25min for pegasus which being flysheet first is quicker.

orion 5 is approx 6.6m long x 4.4m wide x 2.2m high, obviously plenty of room for 2 people - but having previously camped 2 in a (much) smaller four berth tent without sig for 1-2 weeks a couple of times this year we are looking forward to having the extra space in the orion 5, especially in the living area, for next years outings.

we chose the wynnster because of the design, quality and value for money - plus its a UK company !! a good approach is to find a retail oulet with the tent you are interested in on display and also to use the forums on this website where excellent expert advice can be found on everything camping.

hope this is useful.

Hi,

I had the Pegasus 6 for one trip, it only went back because of a dispute with a lousy retailer.  I can tell you that the Pegasus has full footprint seperate groundsheet (which clips on to the poles) and sewn in groundsheet on the sleeping inners.  It is not the easiest to put up, but once up is beautifully made and quite stable.  Quite honestly stick with the Mallard you already own if it is up to the task.

If you are still interested in the Pegasus, the 2007 model 'Pheonix' is the same design with a SIG (available only as a 4 or 6 birth).

It is a large tent for two but not really suitable for four or indeed five.We used ours last year for a three week holiday round the south of England. There were two of us and the dog and during our trip the space was handy. We slept in the three person pod and stored stuff in the smaller pod. That gave us plenty living space.

Putting it up at first was difficult as we followed the instructions, however we discovered that if you erect the living pod first with the tallest person going inside the tent then it was pretty easy. There are posts by myself and others in relation to the Pegasus 5/6.You will see comments on these posts as well. Its a good tent with plenty of living room and airy feeling. It does not have a SIG.

Hope this helps!

Mick
