Does anyone have any experiences of the Khyam Indiana 8. I like the idea of it being polycotton with SIG but for 2008 it has windows at near ground level.Will that add to the hazard of leaks? Is it easy to assemble and robust in bad weather?

I have had no experience with Khyam at all, but have read on the forum the opinion that the TC version is too heavy for the poles. Someone in another post had one and it was flattened but the wind relatively easily he said.
Use the search function to look up the tent. I only answered because now the season has finished it appears a lot of the members are no longer contributing.
We had an Indiana 8 TC - it was everything we wanted in a tent but unfortunately it only lasted one holiday. We had problems with the poles - 2nd time up one of the poles split - we did 2 fairly major running repairs on it and it limped along for the rest of the holiday. (this was in conditions of no wind at all)
When we got home we examined all the poles closely and found that every single one showed signs of splitting - we returned the tent and got most but not all of the money back - the retailer wanted to replace the poles but we were unimpressed by this.
The problem with the poles seemed to be that the sections were quite short compared to their considerable diameter so under the stress of bending they split easily. We did e-mail Khyam but they assured us that the poles were fit for purpose . Apparently the poles on the now discontinued polyester version were different but viewed as not strong enough to hold the weight of the polycotton canvas.
I think that others have had similar problems. We did have sight leaks at the top of windows in heavy rain but they were easily fixed with spray proofer.
Sorry not to be more positive. The layout and space was great but it just didn't stand up to doing the basic job (dread to think what it could have been like if there had been any wind at all)
We bought the Indianna TC this year in April and had exactly the same problem as Taznmaple with the poles splitting. They were great heavy things and a b****r to get into position. We sent it back after the holiday.
I am glad that we had to send the Indianna back. It had been a few years since we had been camping and I thought I would try something different and cheaper but realised after that experience that what I really wanted was another Cabanon.
Ours didn't have a SIG either so perhaps they have improved the poles too.
The other problem I had with the tent was the weight of it. I thought that it would be a bit lighter than it was. After consideration I thought if I was going to deal with all that weight I'd rather have the proper canvas and sturdy poles of the frame tent.
Thanks for all that valuable information I'm so glad that I asked for advice. It looks like we will be rethinking our choice of tent. We really can't afford to make a mistake as it will be used on our first trip to France. I don't fancy having to do running repairs while we are away.
