After long deliberation we have decided to upgrade our tent. We have chosen an Outwell Vermont M for various reasons. However I see Outwells 2008 range comes out in Feb. Can anyone advise us if the Vermont M has had any changes or improvements. The Outwell website doesn't give any info, but retail sites selling the Vermont 2008 model are charging around £40 - £50 more than a 2007 model is currently priced at. Thanks in advance.

Hi, we have the 2007 Vermont l and as far as I can see they are exactly the same. Go for the 2007 model and get yourself a bargain. Good choice of tent.
Can't comment on differences on the Vermont, but we decided to buy the Outwell Bear Lake 6 for this coming season. As far as we can tell there is no difference between the 2007 and 2008 models so I wonder if this is similar across much of their range?
The only difference we have found can be a significant increase in price. The cheapest 2008 we could find was £599, whereas we have picked up a 2007 model for £463. (From outdooraction.com who currently also have the Vermont M 2007 for £299.97, dunno how that compares with other prices you have seen)
Good price for Bear lake 6. Just as a matter of interset i have a bear lake 6 and was looking at the new wolf lakes. There not that much different in design to a bearlake, but the price per sq ft was much more expensive. This just show how well marketing works as people will pay for a 2007 / 2008 / 2009 when there's generally little difference.
We did consider the Wolf Lake, especially liked the way the front canopy went right down to the floor.
There were 2 things that put us off:
a) it is over 5m wide and we mainly use CC&C sites where you have to book direct with the site over 5m and we were concerned about having to pay for a double pitch at busy times.
b) the price, compared to the Bear Lake we couldn't justify paying so much extra for a bit more space and the full length front canopy.
The canopy problem might be solved with purchasing a side extension for the Bear Lake at a future date. This will also give us the option on using it on either side depending on weather conditions.
Might reconsider a Wolf Lake or the then equivalent in 3/4 yrs time when our children are older and want separate bedrooms
Dunno about 2008, last weekend we bought a brand-new Outwell Kansas 3 and as far as I know they were a 2006 model! We can't go too far wrong with it though, we only paid £39 and bought it as a second tent for when we want to take minimum kit for one-nighters, or if I want to camp (and therefore pitch) on my own.
On the subject of full-sided canopies (and for that matter the new extensions available for most Outwells) I must admit prefer the open sided ones. Our main tent is a Minnesota 4 + canopy, which I am more than happy with. To my mind you are inside or out. A bit or rain/sun protection is what I want, but once you start needing full-sided canopies or extensions then what you really need is a bigger tent. For my own needs I'd have bought a Vermont M instead of a Minny 4 with an extension. I guess it could be useful if you only occasionally need the extra space though.
Robert.

The Vermont XL 2008 has a different bedroom set up 2007 was 2/4/1 this year is 2/3/2 it was the thing that stopped us buying last year and the thing that swung it for use this year - well done Outwell.
