pitched our ebay bargain for the first time this afternoon (glorious warm sunshine) went up easy but unsure on a couple of items having only ever has tents with SIG. What do I do with the mudflaps ? Do I have them facing into the tent with the grounsheet over the top or do they go outwards? What are the ties for too?

Secondly the flysheet was sitting high (approx 5in of the ground) on both sides of the bedroom section, what are we doing wrong? We also wonder if others use a seperate tarp under the bedroom section to stop the bedroom grounsheet getting dirty and to offer more protection from the cold ground?

Otherwise its a great tent, even got it back in the bag first time.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks

I thought you'd given up on Ebay tent buying?  Didn't you have all sorts of problems last year

We have the Oregon 4 - just smaller, lower version of the 5 . The mudflaps peg outwards and the ties are so you can roll them up to get extra ventilation if you want. Can't suggest anything about the gap around the bedroom I'm afraid, if I remember correctly ours had quite a gap at the end of the living area, not around the bedroom. We always put a plastic sheet under the bedroom so it can be packed away clean and dry.

We've not got that tent but on our axtec palacio  the groundsheet is cut around the pods. This year we've decided to "make our own" groundsheet to go under the original groundsheet with a heavy duty tarp. It'll make packing away easier!

We've got an Oregon 4 but haven't used it yet. I've set it up in the garden and I've decided that for actual camping, I'm going to put a tarp under the whole lot and then tuck the mud flaps under the tarp. I might see if I can lift the the tarp under the bedroom pod up at the sides just as an extra draught proof measure. I'm hoping it will work as a semi SIG but with the bonus of a little more ventilation. Not tried it but thats the plan!

thanks all/ I've seen the footprint but I wonder if we would end up with rain running between footprint and bedroom groundsheet due to the flysheet sitting so high? That is a good price though!
