Hi
I would go for the Sunncamp Evolution 400.
http://www.sunnflair.com/sunncamp/tents/platinum-range/evolution-400/prod_29.html
The new 2008 model looks great and has had a few tweaks to the door design to help against water ingress.
Regards
gary

Hi Safeway and Daisybev, I looked at that Peakland tent too. Do you think that having a HH of 1500 would be OK? If so, it would be a brilliant tent for the money. MT------------- Tackling life the Western District way

Merry I have had a Decathlon (quechua ) tent for 2 yrs now and it has a HH of 1500
IT has NEVER Leaked
for the weather we get in the UK 1500 is quite adequate...
I have had my tent in high winds floods and snow the only problem was the gap round the bottom...Hence the Evo

I heard that British Army tents have a HH of only 1000...if it's good enough for Tommy Atkins it's good enough for me.

I fell in love with this one when I was surfing earlier today:
Aztec Hawk 3
Bit pricey for me tho' at £159.

The Hawk 3 does look like a very good thing in a small package caz. Its 24 kilos, do you think that might make it a bit too heavy for solo use? For general car camping use, I mean, no way is Ian going to be carrying that on his shoulder on and off the bus! MT------------- Tackling life the Western District way

I wouldn't want to carry it far, but if I put the poles in a separate bag I could just about lug it in & out of the car.
I'm not really sure why it's so heavy for such a small tent. Definitely not recommended for backpacking.
It is nice tho'.

maybe the poles are steel as they support the whole thing like a tunnel...
Poles: Colour coded Steel Tent Poles, Steel Canopy Poles
Yep as I thought and it has the big plastic sky lights to which will add to the weight
