Hi Jill- Just thought I would let you know that due to today's fab weather have finally managed to pitch my Vango Orchy. Took about 40 mins on my own but I think I could get quicker (especially if I do not mix up poles and have to swap them round when tent is nearly up!!) and kids could probably hold things as well - relieved it could be done and now looking forward to first weekend away in it! Sarah X

Hi Sarah
Thanks for letting me know! 40 mins is excellent first time around. I ordered my Vango Orchy 600 yesterday and I hope that it will arrive in time for a practice pitch in the garden at the weekend!!! Where are you going for your first weekend away?
I'm sure you will love your Orchy when it arrives! It was really roomy inside- bigger than I thought.. although once all our stuff is in...
Not sure where to go yet but will go first May bank holiday. Don't want to go too far so maybe Forest of Dean or Builth Wells- will have to decide and book soon! x
SarahJG,
I had this tent on the top of my list but took it off because I thought I wouldn't be able to put up single handed.
Seems, from what you have said, you can?

Not the easiest job ever but certainly do-able! As I said, I think I will get quicker next time. My brother had come round for moral support but wasn't allowed to help! When I do take it camping I will have my 2 kids who will be able to hold things etc. One thing is that main poles are long and quite unwieldy - might try to put them together as I thread them through next time. But once poles are in and the dome up it's just really a case of pegging it down and straightening it all out- very straightforward from then on I thought. I have the 600 so I imagine the smaller ones would be slightly easier as the poles will be that bit shorter. Hope this is of help. x
Hi Sarah & Stewey
I picked up the Orchy this morning & it's all pitched out in the garden!!!! It took me about 40 mins as well, but will be faster next time as I know what I'm doing now. I took your advice Sarah and put the two long poles together as I was feeding them through the sleeves. It took me a few minutes to work out that the short straight pole was for the bedroom and the short 'bent' pole was for the porch. I managed it on my own, the hardest part was getting the two cross over poles 'up' I pinned the front ones into the rings, as per instructions, then worked the back two in gradually, adjusting the groundsheet at the same time, then the tent just sort of popped up!!!
Its really roomy, mind you no gear in it as its in the garden! Just what I was looking for, I didn't get to see one on display, not much down here in Cornwall, just lots of reasearch on the internet & on here of course.
So for any other single mums, Yes! you can put the Vango Orchy 600. Girl Power!!!
I can't wait for next week, I'm off to Shepton Mallet for a few days, I must take a look at the site reviews.
Glad all went well- I got those two poles the wrong way round too! Only figured it out when it was up but managed to swap them round! Enjoy Shepton Mallet... all the best, Sarah x
