We are thinking of buying the Bearlake 6, saw it at the Yeoman's tent display on Sunday and thought it looked fabulous.

So my question is do you think it is too big for 2 people?

We like the head height and also all the other features it has and hope it lasts us for a good few years. We have crawled around in smaller tents for a couple of years and now feel it's time for a change.

Just wondered what your thoughts were and is such a large tent for 2 justified?

we had the same decision to make, and in the end went for the bearlake 4 for just the 2 of us. have not used it yet but saw it at yeomans still a good size, not as wide as the 6 but plenty of space for 2.

have you thought of the 4? less weight, less money and just the same quality and you can always add the side extension in the future.

We had a Norfolk Lake which we loved, but to be honest it was too big for the two of us! It was warm, dry and spacious but wasn't particuarly cosy! I agree with Pauline that the Bear Lake 4 would be a good choice, it's a real looker too!  We were going to get one to replace the Norfolk Lake, but were so chuffed with the Guadeloupe that were just going to stick with that for the moment!

Yes looked at the 4 at Yeoman's, as you say it's the width that makes the difference to them both and the one bedroom pod in the 6 is far larger than in the 4.

I suppose it just comes down to personal preference like everything, just wondered if there was anyone out there who had a bearlake 6 and wished they had the 4 instead when there is only 2 of you in the tent.

That's what I was trying to say in my post!  The Norfolk Lake we had was pretty much the same size as the BL6, just an enclosed porch instead of a canopy and though it was a great we always wished we'd have bought the BL4! My advice having had a biggie would be to go for the BL4, but at the end of the day it's down to personal choice!  If you do go for the BL6 and afterwards decide you want to downsize, you should be able to recover a large percentage of the cost by selling either on UKCS Free Ads or eBay!!! Sorry lentrott, you had replied at exactly the same time as I had posted again and your post slipped in just before mine.

Thanks for your input though, a great help.

When we were camping last year we got chatting to a couple who had a vermont xl just for the two of them.   They said that they loved having all that space.  It was set up like a house, telly comfy chairs etc.

We have a Norfolk  lake for 2 adults and 2 kids.  Once the kids leave home we would want something smaller.  In fact like lentrott have bought a smaller tent for just the two of us at weekends a Barbados.  Not sure I would want to spend a week in one though.  If it was just the two of us I would buy a camplet, but that is another kind of camping and bit more expensive than a tent.

So what I am saying is if you like the BL6, then the BL4 would be ideal for the two of you.
