All though I've never been to a festival, (long story) , but from what I can gather loads of tents get wrecked, so I would probably go for one that it wouldn't matter if I had to ditch it at the end of the festival.

They're simple to put up and take down. You should be able to put up one of these by yourself in 10 mins or so. A pop up tent is even quicker and easier to put up. I ended up chucking my tent the last time I went to a festival because I woke up to hear someone using the outside of my tent as a urinal, nice!
You might want to think about finding a middle way: a reasonable quality tent which will keep the rain out and could last you several festivals but it wouldn't break your heart if it got trashed either. Look for a tent which has a HH (waterproofness) rating of at least 1500 and preferably 2000.
Spending your money on a crap tent to put in the bin and which can't even keep you dry if need be seems wasteful and pointless to me which ever way I look at it! MT
