I have been reading the campsite forum, and have been amazed at the amount of information and help available from other campers. This has been far more helpful than any other tent review site I have found. I bought my first tent on the strength of the advice given here and have been delighted with it. So I'm coming back for more advice.
I Have an Outwell Oragon 3 birth that I use for weekend folk festivals, this is great for one person as I have ample room for cooking, dressing, washing etc. I can put it up on my own with no problem and it's been fantastic in wind and rain.
My husband is over 6' and has had a spinal operation, so bending over for any length of time in a tent is not an option. I have - finally - talked him into coming to some festivals with me, and I have been looking at the Oragon 5 birth twin as it has good standing room, with space for storage and cooking. But before I make a final decision, does anyone have any other thoughts on a good tent for 2 people - I don't do cramped! - with good head room that is easy to put up (I will be doing most of it on my own), has good living space for cooking or if it rains. I looked at another Outwell as I'm used to my Oragon, but I'm willing to change my views if another make is much better. The tent will be used for weekends rather than long holidays.

Hi , I don't really know much about smaller tents, but the vango venture 5 is always being recommended as a weekend tent easy for a lady to put up singlehanded, with good living area and standing height , not sure if this would be tall enough for your husband though? 190cm.
The trouble is with the vango, is that the head room is in the sleeping area, not the living area. I would prefer it the other way around. I have 2 friend with a VV5 and it is the one thing they complain of - that and the fact that, when it rains, you can't open the side flap, as the rain comes in, it needs some kind of porch to keep the rain off.
I have been looking at the Minnesota and the Montana - but have been put off by people saying that the Montana leaked badly at the seams. I have been looking at the vango Orchy, the Coleman ridgeline 4 and the Khyam Chatsworth - but that's a lot more expensive and the Khyam Flexidome Freelander. I'm just getting SOOO confused!
We have a Minnesota 4, and we love it. We have been lucky enough to experience only a few brief showers and ours didn't leak (though obviously not the sternest test).
For your needs, I think the advantage of the Minnesota is that it is full height for the full length - I think I'm correct in saying that the Oregon range are all taller at the centre hoop, though not to the same extent as some other brands. The other big difference is whether you want a full SIG or not.
The one downside to the Minny 4 is that it is very heavy when packed - a single 24.5kg bag (vs 14.5kg for the Oregon) as a result of the sturdy but heavy steel poles. Not sure ithis could be a problem with your husbands back, though I guess you could always pack the poles separately if necessary.
The Minny is easy enough to pitch with 2 people, though could be a bit challenging for only one, but I doubt that it differs from most other tents of a similar size in this respect.

Have you looked at the Outwell Oregon 5 which is a bigger, higher version of the 3.
We asked for advice on the Oregons last year and got lots of positive comment for both the 4 & 5. We went for the 4, which wouldn't be high enough for you, and it is a very good tent which is easy to pitch. If I am remembering rightly, on last year's 5 model I think you could use the bedroom as one 5 berth, a 3 and 2 berth or you could just have the 3 berth section on it's own.
Just sold my vango diablo 600 and replaced it with an oregon 5. Ideal for weekend and shorter trips. Doesn't take up as much room in the car and takes minutes to put up. Vango venture 500 is a good tent but not as much room. Got ours from winfields in Hull where they have them all on show, spent ages going from one to another eventually decided on the outwell £60 more but worth it.
