Just wanted to say that I posted a message a few months back asking if anyone had used the Eden 800 tent and what it was like, after buying one myself and not yet used it...........

Well now we have been camping in our new tent to test it out.

It's easy to put up, huge and quite impressive, so spacious.  As yet we have not used this tent in bad weather, although when we bought it we decided on this tent as we viewed it in freezing wet weather and winds and the tent stood up very well, so we took a chance and bought it any way.

Just thought people may like to know if they are considering getting one.

Ooh, I just bought one of those, but it's a bit of a project. It has no inner tents , and no side bars with it. I bought it for £19.50 inc delivery off ebay, sold unseen as spares or repairs. I have inners I can adapt from an old 12 berth   tent I have.

I have repaired a few small holes in the roof, using tenacious tape. I have to tape over a couple of tiny holes in the pole sleeves too.

I haven't been able to put the tent up yet to see what , if any other faults it has, but so far apart from the bits I've seen,  the tent looks as if it has only been put up once, and somehow got damaged. Spotlessly clean, and smells brand new.

Now my question is, how stable was the tent before the side bars were put into place, assuming they were put in after everything else was done?

Would it be stable enough to use without the side bars for fairweather camping , ie summer use only, not if any high winds forecast?

Hi Debbie,

They do make it sturdy, but as far as we could see you would be fine without in good weather, to be honest we were going to leave them out!  But as we were trying the tent out and are new to the camping game we just put the whole tent together to make sure all was there and all was ok with it.

The tents is quite strong and sturdy and it said on the instructions thet the side bars are used as reinforcement.

I think you'll be fine without them in good weather

Thanks,  that's just what I was hoping to hear. I have the nevada xl which is of similar size and that doesn't have side bars, so hope this one will be okay without them too . cheers.
