We've just bought a Vermont XL and splashed out on the side canopy. We've put it up a couple of times but aren't sure that we have got it right. The guys pull tight over the tent and rub on the canvas where the poles are, it seems like a recipe for wearing through the canvas. Any tips for a first poster!

We had the same trouble - managed to fit the two side guys to poles without injuring the test, but found the middle one lay directly on the tent - surely this cant be right. Even called in at a yeoman show near Scarborough and asked there but they couldnt assist any further - something is not quite right with this extension - especially for the Vermont XL - cant anyone help further?
We have the same problem with a Vermont L, we used it in the rain and as it doesn't seem to fit quite right, it collected pools of rainwater which periodically overflowed down the side of the the tent.
We have one for the bear lake 6 and it fits perfectly. We originally had some puddles on top, but adjusted the guys and now they are fine. And no rubbing anywhere.
TBH, I don't even know why they made a side extension for that model, we had the L last year and had plenty of space and used the porch opened up as our outdoor area.
