We currently have two tents - a Blacks Constellation Series dome tent and a Eurohike Sandringham. The Blacks tent is excellent and very easy to erect, just not big enough for longer holidays. We found the Eurohike Sandringham very difficult to erect and rather drafty due to the lack of a sewn in groundsheet in the living area.
Having read positive reviews of the Suncamp Evolution 400, and that it is easy to erect, I am seriously considering purchasing it in time for a two week holiday we have planned in Somerset.
I have a few questions regarding this tent - does the sewn in groundsheet extend the whole length of the groundsheet (including underneath the bedroom inner tent)? Will the Evolution's geodesic design be easier to erect than the tunnel design of the Eurohike Sandringham.
Other tents we are considering include the Eurohike Stowe, Vango Venturer 500 and the Vango Orchy 400.
Having a living area we can stand up in is important to us.
Cheers
MaX

I can tell you that the SIG of the evo400 does extend the whole length of the tent, including the sleeping area, which also has its own groundsheet too. I can't comment of whether it is easier to erect that your current one, as I dont have experience of yours, but I can tell you I find it very easy (and I am vertically chellenged!!!) to erect.
I assume there will be just the two of you? If there are more, I dont think the tent will be big enough for a longer stay, if just two it should be ok. I tend to camp on my own (with 2 large dogs) and have plenty of room, but a couple of weeks ago I took a friend with me for the weekend, and we weren't cramped at all.
If you buy one, and dont have a utility tent or canopy of some sort, consider buying one, as I wouldn't recommend cooking in the tent - just thinking of our lovely summers. LOL.
I like my evo400, it is snug and light (having a few windows). Theonly thing I think they should change is to add a canopy, then it would be more than perfect for me
We have the Sunncamp Evolution 600DL and can confirm that the 400 has a complete SIG and that the inner bedroom sections also have a SIG, double the protection! We have the 600DL which has a larger living space and although we are shorties, the head clearance is impressive. Although the poles are quite long, you can put it up in a jiffy . Try looking in the tent info section and typing in evolution in to the search box for additional info.
Hey mad maxx i can confirm that the evolution 400 is a fab tent. ( i nearly got one the other day for a weekend tent after having a look at one in the flesh, look out for some great deals out there on the larger models at the moment, search uk web sites for "sunncamp evolution" and see what comes up. After all if you are going away for longer periods you may need something with a bit more room than the 400 or vango orchy 400 (dealer had one of these pitched as well) to be honest they really don't have a lot of room for gear inside.. just a suggestion

I have just got one but havent had the chance to use it yet - cant wait. I have put it up solo in my garden and it is definately easy for the vertically challenged . Cant add any more than has already been said really other than getting a small utility tent for cooking as Breeze suggested.
Speaking from my experience I would not recommend the evo 400 to anyone. I bought one for this season after seeing it on display in towsure. I liked the design and thought it would be easy to put up on my own...... It wasn't. The first time I was in cornwall and it was a bit windy (well it was cornwall LOL) so I put it down to that and my inexperience with a new tent. The wind turned into a gale and torrential rain. and I spent a good part of the night repegging and securing the tent convinced it would blow away. In spite of being camped with the doors downwind the rain came in through the mesh of the front window and beause of the SIG the tent filled up with water. At 2am I gave up any thoughts of sleeping as the bedroom was flooded so I spent the night in the car. When it got light I found that one of the poles had split (no surprise there) and the wind had pulled the guy ropes and pegs out of the ground and a couple of elastics had snapped. There were three of us all in the same tent together although I didn't actually know the other two (how weird was that?). One of the others had two split poles and eventually packed up and went home. I repaired the pole with some tape and spent the rest of the weekend sleeping in my car but cooking in my tent. I have used this tent twice more since and both times found it hard to put up, the poles stick in the sleeves and the SIG collected dirt and water with nowhere for it to go. It's also restricted in terms of space, I have a camping fridge and a table and one chair and can barely fit them in it. I did contact sunncamp about the problems I had had with this tent and I contacted them again and again and after 2 months numerous telephone calls and e-mails I finally got a response. The tent is apparently not made to withstand any kind of weather other than mild and I could buy a whole new pole from them direct. I haven't replaced the pole as yet and the other times I have used it the weather was dry and calm so I got away with it. I didn't want to replace a pole in a tent that will probably end up on a bonfire in november. My previous tent was a jamet roma 4 and I only changed to the evolution because although the jamet was extremely easy for me to put it was a chore to take down because of the weight (about 18kilos)and it was the older model that only had one door (identical to the rage alta 4 that is always on ebay but brighter coloured).
I have now ordered a coleman lakeside 4 because it's a decent size, looks more straighforward to put up and I can take one bedroom out and put my fridge there which is what I used to do with the jamet. I'm not worried about the lack of a SIG in this tent as I have several spares that I can use to block any gaps, having had such fun with the evo 400 and it's SIG I am in no hurry to get another tent with the same feature.
I'm sure most would disagree with me about this tent, I can't find any bad reviews online anywhere but there are at least 2 of us that would not recommend one so I am sure there must be more.
