Couldn't resist the frame tent I spotted in the local hospice charity shop and now I've got it home I can't for the life of me work out how to put it up (maybe some of the poles are missing?)
It would seem to be a Canaria 4. Does anyone have instructions that they could download. I'd like to have a go at putting it up while the sun still shines.
Cheers
Louisa

I have a Relum Canaria 4 and it usually takes us ten minutes to erect the frame and get the canvas on but i'm buggered if i know how to explain it, where abouts "oop north" are you?
If your close enough i'll come and show you or if not i'll do my best to explain it
I had another go yesterday and managed it, I got the canvas out to measure poles against and it all started to make sense - I think I was expecting a little extension near the window for the kitchen but mine doesn't have one - I thought those poles must have been missing.
V impressed - did it myself in about an hour but that was with the faffing with pole and having to take it apart a few times whilst canvas on. I've never managed to put my Khyam XL up solo so this may be the way forward.
Next test is waterproofing. I sprayed it with the hose and was mostly ok but some seemed to spray through the back wall. Is it possible that I just sprayed it too hard. I'm loathe to reproof if I don't have to.
OOo and it was only a tenner - bargain!

with a cotton canvas tent you need to get it wet so that the fibres can swell and form a tighter weave, so if it is still pitched try wetting the problem area down again and do this a couple of times to see if it helps
if the tent has been stored in a dry enviroment for a long time the canvas may be very dry and will benifit from a good soaking
We bought an 11 year old tent last autumn which had only be used for one holiday when the couple first bought it. It had been dry stored ever since. We pitched it on the lawn this spring & hosed it down well - there was a fine mist of water inside the tent. We let it dry out thoroughly, then took it on our first outing this year. It rained - but not a drop of water came in
So if your tent has been stored for a long time, then just a good soaking with the hose should make it waterproof again
I've given it a thorough soaking 3 times now and let it dry out. Fine mist does seem to be coming through a little bit still though. I think that this tent may have been one on show at a camping exhibition as it still had the label on the door saying 'sold do not enter' and whilst the majority of the tent looks used, the door is a completely different colour suggesting that it was kept open constantly. Then I guess its been dry stored ever since. Could over exposure to sun have caused damage say over one summer if it was consistently outside?
does seem to be getting better though so may just risk it on a weekend close to home.

Hi there, I have a Relum Canaria 4 berth tent. I have instructions for Canaria 3,4 & 5 in a .jpg file, if you still need them I'm happy to email them to you.
Im new to this site having just purchased a secomd hand canaria tent and I have no instructions. Could you please email me your instructions to a.m.pearson at hotmail.co.uk
No problem Andy, I'm new too :) Instructions just posted - let me know if you have any problems, otherwise enjoy your tent. We bought our Relum Canaria 4 many years ago - early nineties but I can't remember exactly when. It's a great tent and it's still going strong, in fact we're going to North Devon next weekend with it.

HI, I think I have just inherited a Canaria 4 from my grandparents...it is currently lying in the garden after foxing us all with numerous attempts to put it together, would it be possible for anyone to email me the instructions??
How do I check the model, I can only find a relum label on the front & no model detail.
Panic over....after managing to put the tent up....we found some very old crumpled instructions in the bottom of the bag! It is indeed a Canaria 4. Lovely tent but a bit to small for our needs, so I'm going to sell it.....will have to look for a tent to buy now...nightmare!
Hi, after months of debate over the merits of the layout of the Outwell Utah vs the Vermont etc. etc. I have "inherited" a Relum Canaria 4, vintage 1985. Having erected it on the lawn I must say it looks pretty fine, if a little smaller than I was contemplating. The only problems seem to be a badly repaired corner pole which sends the pole off in the wrong direction. Can a replacement be sourced? And no ground sheet in the living area. Any suggestions regarding the "best" solution ie plastic/ breathable/ carpet etc. The area in question is approx 1.8m x 2.9m. All comments greatly appreciated
Cheers.
