hi all been browsing site for a while now getting lots of usefull tips have decided on buying either a vermont L or vango amazon for main family tent however have now decided to leave that till early next year. In the meantime ive decided on purchasing a much smaller tent to take the kids away weekends whilst husband working. Would be most appreciated if you could give me some ideas need the following requirements:
1. Suitable for me 2 kids and a dog
2. VERY easy to erect (easy enough for 5.4' girlie and an 8 year old)
3. budget around £200
Many thanks.
Lorna

I just bought a Khyam Freelander Deluxe and I can put that up in less than 30 minutes with a bit of help from 10 year old daughter, a little longer on my own (tops an hour). I include that as from pulling up in the car and sitting on a chair with the kettle on, airbeds inflated and chucked into the bedroom and all.
We use it for just me and my daughter but there is ample space. One bedroom each is a bit of a luxury. If we took a friend of hers with us they would have one bedroom and I would have the other to myself!!
What I liked is that although not a large tent the sleeping areas didn't encroach too much into the living area so if it was raining you had space to sit.
My only problem is that the door at the front is at quite a shallow angle so a bit of water can drip off the door as you open it first thing in the morning if it has been raining in the night but it is just a bit of puddle on the ground sheet is all and it doesn't come in otherwise.
I have on one occasion not got the tent entirely over the footprint groundsheet and there was a bit of a puddle under one bedroom, but nothing got wet as it just sat under the bed SIG.
For easy putting up it is brilliant. I paid £150 for mine at a camping exhibition. I think if you shop around you will get one for about the £190 mark.
I am also told that Khyam are a very good make. Not an expert on that though.
Yeah checked out the tent review pages im baffled cant make my mind up my biggest concern is getting a tent up myself not looking for a massive one just something that we could escape for weekends. Started looking for a family one for longer holidays but at this time of year we wernt going to get the benefit of it so back to the search. Time i make my mind up we will be camping in the snow

Vango V500 my OH and her pal are 5ft and 5ft 2in they get the tent up in 15 mins bags of space we paid £99 for it and £40 for the porch ext you can get them cheaper than that we have had ours for about 18 mths and had some great fun the porch ext really gives you a lot of extra room plenty for you 2 kids and the dog
------------- I Think Therefore I Am I Think? eh? If all is not lost where is it?
hi we have an outwell nevada m. its a great size not too big but plenty space in living area. its so easy to put up - it takes us around 15 mins as its only 3 poles. there is 2 seperate rooms and 3 doors which makes it nice and airy if its warm but sewn in ground sheet also makes it cosy in the cold.
After spending hours searching the internet and reading reviews decided to go for a vango orchy 600 - thought i would just go ahead and purchase it last night, cant believe it not in stock anywhere!! going to keep trying if cant get it think im going to go for the outwell nevada.m - decisions decisions. Why is it so hard to pick a tent

I don't know your location but I noticed that Go Outdoors in Stockport had a pile of 7 or 8 of theOrchy 600's in a corner and they looked like they were just about to put them on display after being out of stock for a while. They are not in stock on the website and I'm not sure the store would arrange delivery but it might be worth a try.
Managed to get an Orchy 500 footprint carpet and large canopy from go outdoors maybe a bit smaller than the 600 but will suit us fine probably better for me getting it up. Will have the garden test as soon as it arrives and hopefully all will be ok. Now im reading the campsite reviews!!! Cant wait till we're off
