Hi, I have a 3-hoop tent (the 3 poles are formed into a hoop shape) and I can put it up solo quite quickly. I've found tunnel tents are easier solo than dome tents although I'm sure there will be someone along to contradict that!
What is the "essential" thing she wanted about her tent? Is there anything else she hasn't considered. For me, having had a small tunnel tent for a couple of years, I am just longing for a tent with proper headheight!

I erect my 4-berth Gelert Alaska tunnel tent single handedly. Erect it end on to the wind, peg and guy that end first and the wind will keep it upright while you erect the remaining sections.

Small (low level camping I've seen it called) tent it'll have to be for now. No car (student's CANNOT afford one) restricts weight and therefor height I'm afraid.
I have a Vango Yukon 800 tunnel tent and can pitch it on my own without too much trouble. I watched a great video on youtube which demionstrates the best approach to use when pitching single-handed
Yes good vid that. Quite a large tent too and in just over 9 minutes. Only put my Stratus 4 tunnel tent up once on my own and it took about half an hour. Quite good really as not used to erecting tents as until now have been a caravanner. Tents for me now though.

I have a outwell winfield (eq. now navada L ) I put it up solo and that is 4 hoops -e much bigger! However I don't pitch like yeomans I add all poles then peg out one end then pull it out till its up and peg the other but I guess that is just personal preference.
One of the things I was concidering before I baught my current tent was a smaller tent ( a pop up) with a tarp for cooking etc. don't know if it is worth you looking at, also many of the walkers at one of the campsites I visited had water proof bags and pac safe nets and left their stuff outside.
