Hi,

Have just ordered the bear lake 6 from PJ camping, the extenision for it is on offer for £85. Have already got a utility tent, should I buy the extension, is it worth it?? It's lighter weight wise than my utility tent.

Linda

I have just used the side extension for a week in Cornwall, and was dissapointed with the design. The key frustration was the amount of time it took to erect and the complication of having to anchor it down by pulling a large part of the extension material over the entire BL6 tent and then securing at the far side. This is not easy, and requires assistance, especially if a breeze is blowing.

Also do not expect to have a flush fitting extension, it sits away from the main tent canopy by about 6-8 inches. That said, we used it as the main entrance into the tent, for taking off boots and shoes. It is also large enough to cook under, so does have some benefit, it is just a bugger to put up!

Don't forget that lots of sites charge you extra for a utility tent. They don't however charge for an extension.

Good point about the additional chgs for utility tents.

I also noted that on bank holiday weekends some campsites don't allow gazebo's, so an extension may be useful.

Is the side extension fairly wind tolerant?

Linda,

Side extention is wind tolerant and £85 is a good price.
