Hi, I'm looking at buying a 3 man tent for next spring summer(two trips will be in scotland so wind and rain may come) I've been looking at a khyam sherpa 3 and a vango beta 350 or omega 350. Can any one tell me if any of these are any good, or do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks

I've had two khyams both the larger family models, and can guarantee they last a fortnight of sold rain, and windy conditions !! so would have thought the smaller more streamlined models will have no problems at all...

Dont know about which model would be best but one thing I have always found with tents is that a three man tent is never going to be big enough to hold 3 people of any size or sex! My general rule of thumb for buying tents is count the heads, double them then look for tents that size.
------------- We dont stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing.
We have Vango Gammas , both 2 and 3 man ( very like the Beta , older version of it ) Still perfectly useable , just fancied one with a porch and some windows .
I was looking at the Khyam Sherpa , but it looks like it's an old model too now , nowhere seems to have them in stock anymore ( been looking for a few months )
Fancied the Sherpa as it has a porch and plenty of ventilation and access , if you find anywhere that still has any let me know !!!
I need a 3 man tent that will take very little room up in the boot of the car , and can take the rough weather , be easily dried at home , and accommodate me , my daughter ( 13y.o ) and my dog .

We have a Vango Gammas and it is a wonderful tent that my daughter and I use for short camps.
We also have a further two vangos one is OH and one belongs to my son. As a make we find Vangos very good and stand up well to all that the UK weather throws at them.
We also purchased a Khyam Sherpa a few years ago but returned it after one very wet weekend. I am not sure if we were just unlucky or not but we did land up with an indoor swimming pool in the bedroom hence the tent was returned.
I am not sure if I have been much help or not
The other vangos that we have are a Stealth (discontinued), Delta (discontinued) and we have just purchased an Arrow (to replace sons due to general wear and tear)
Have a look here Freescot. I had an earlier version of the Winnipeg (a Santiago) the main difference being mine didn't have a SIG. I found it to be a very versatile tent and at 19.7Kg, this one won't take up too much room in your boot. The best thing about it is that it is high enough to stand up in.
An excellent and robust tent, easy to put up and if pitched the right way very stable in the wind. If you watch the product video, it shows the old version, the Santiago, not the Winnipeg.

That was loads of help , thanks . Before it leaked was it any good ?
The sherpa was a nice little tent although if you are looking at it for the additional side door into the bedroom it is not worth it. The door from what I recall was not that easy to use. Also the sherpa before it was made under the Khyam name was produced by Campus - not that that should make any difference. (What a thing to remember!)
So if you ignore the fact that the sherpa has a side door then there is not much difference between the gamma/beta and the sherpa.
If you are wanting to have two doors then there are lots of others on the market.
Have you looked at the Vango Sigma 300?
Thanks

I do love the Gammas , just always on the lookout for our next tent ; preferably with windows . Also don't want anything too bulky or heavy , or difficult to hang over the banister to dry at home if needs be
