I have just bought an Outwell Idaho XL and would like to buy the kids room to go in it but would like to see one in situ before I do. The problem is that I can't seem to find a picture of one anywhere. When I google it I get lots of pictures of kids rooms but they are all in tents that are clearly not the Idaho XL.
Does anyone have any pictures of their Idaho XL kids room that they can show me? The reason I ask is that although the tent is 8 berth, it only has 2 sleeping pods and I wanted to know if the kids room is a full 4 man pod or if it somehow splits one of the pods in half.
Why is it always so hard to find out the simplest of things....??

Have you tried phoning one of the camping shops and asking them just that?
Most are very helpful on the phone.
We found Norwich Camping to be excellent at helping via phone (even though we didn't purchase that particular time) and the staff at Yeomans in Wigan (not city centre but the garden centre one) will go out of their way to help too. You usually find at the 'smaller' stores the staff actually know a thing or two about camping.
Thanks for that Keely, I never thought of doing that. I'm such an internet junkie that I forget that there are actually shops out there with real people in them! I'm going into Hull on Thursday so might pop in to Winfields and see if they can help me.
Would still love to see some pics though if anybody has any....
Can't wait to go away in the Idaho - it's the lap of luxury compared with my previous tents. I can actually stand up without hitting the tent roof and getting condensation on my head !!!!
Thanks for that but I was one step ahead! I've already spotted that one and bought it - just waiting for it to be delivered.
I am on the lookout for the footprint groundsheet but haven't been able to find one cheap enough to keep the smile on my husband's face ;-) so if you know of anywhere that is selling them off I would love to hear from you....
Well, I've given up and taken the plunge. I found a good offer on the kids room (24.99 from Intertent.co.uk) and decided to just go for it. We are going away as a party of 8 so hubby and I will be in with the kids so it looks as though I could well be gazing at glow-in-the-dark stars before going to sleep! At least I can play basket ball from my sleeping bag if the father-in-law keeps me awake with his snoring....

Thanks for that Keely. I hadn't spotted that one. I think Winfields are selling it slightly cheeper than that but they don't always have them in stock so if I don't have any joy there I may well get that one! We're going to Hull tomorrow so I'm going to take your advice and bombard the manager with 101 questions about the Outwell Idaho XL and hope that he might reduce the price on one or two things for me - can't blame a girl for trying.....

Since the Idaho XL has two large bedroom inners without dividers, I suspect the kids room will be the same; one large inner without divider.
Let us know when you receive it, eh?

I have just received it this morning which was lightening speed (I can highly recommend Intertent.co.uk - excellent service!).
Funnily enough, I went to Winfields in Hull yesterday looking for a carpet and a footprint and they had an Idaho XL on display and guess what was in it!! I can confirm that the kids room is the full 4 man pod. It looked really good so I'm glad I've bought one now. I couldn't get the kids out of it - we were in the shop for ages! I wish I'd had my camera with me so that I could have photographed it but sadly I was unarmed! But when we finally get to put ours up I will take some piccies and post them for all to see...
I was a bit disappointed with Winfields - a serious lack of staff around to ask for help. We found the carpets but they weren't dramatically reduced (my husband still thinks he can find one cheaper! I suppose we've managed it with everything else so far so it's only a matter of perseverance...) and they didn't have any footprints so we came away empty handed but at least I got to see the kids room.
I know it's some months on since you started this discussion but we bought an idaho xl in July and went camping with it in August for 3 weeks. I am now thinking that I would like the kids room, but like you, cannot work out how it would fit. Do you have to replace one of the existing bedrooms? The pictures that I have seen suggest that it would go next to an existing bedroom but I cannot see how that would work because the existing bedrooms open sideways so that access would be blocked.
Hi CeeJay, it replaces the whole of the right hand side bedroom pod (as you face the tent) and just attaches with toggles. Very easy to swap them over. We just leave the kids room attached when we pack away so its already in for next time we camp.
