Sorry that I have posted this under other posts, but I want to confirm that the Vango Large Canopy sits on the side of the Tigris 800 similar to the Gelert and Khyam porch. Does anyone have one of these who can tell me more?
Hi andylong , I think that one is for the tents like the orchy and tamor, you want the vango tunnel canopy to fit on the side of the tigris , like this
I think that one would go on the end of the tent , not the side , looking at the way the side pieces come down, where it joins the tent , they don't look as if they would reach up over the tent if used on the side .
If you look at the other tunnel style ones the fabric to join and go over the roof is much higher up.
This is just my opinion .
Why can't vango show clear pics of these canopies attached though ? , there have been loads of posts asking which ones fit which tents , and now this new range has caused even more confusion.

Hi Andy, I think this is a follow on to the other thread you posted. Where I said the porch you seemed to refer to suited a pod type tent?
I still think that to be the case unfortunately, and even if I am wrong, I don't see it being able to go at the side of the tent as you wish.
You have 3 options, the Vango one should be available soon that is designed for their tunnel tents, the Gelert Horizon Porch, or the Khyam Sun Porch.
All would fit as their basic design is fundamentally the same.
Best value for money is the Gelert(In my opinion.) as it has almost twice the area of the Khyam and is a little cheaper.
The Vango one looks a bit flawed to me as the door is steeply raked which I reckon will let water in as you open it....as one of the reasons for getting a canopy for a tunnel is to stop water ingress I reckon it defeats the whole object possibly?
As well as the options above, Vango and Khyam do the porch with the front door "missing" so it is just a canopy, this option is a little cheaper.
Whatever option you go for I don't think the one you link to is correct for the Tigris....but I live to be proven wrong! lol
EDIT: Sorry, my above comments are still valid but they refer to a person who posted in your thread as much as they do to you, (familyof4) as it appears they have ordered the pod type extension for their Tigris.

Hi, we are as confused as everyone else! We have got our Tigris, but want a porch for shoes, loo (so needs a door on the front!) etc. When our tent came it is a blue colour. When looking for a porch we originally ordered this one
Thinking we needed Sage colour not Smoke, but it turns out our tent colour is classed as smoke (in our eyes uit is blue! the vango web site colours dont really match up) SO we have now returned the extension. But I am also a little confused about how it attaches, even on the extension instructions it didnt really show how it attaches, just vague instructions.
We have now noticed that they also do an extension like this one
Yep, I am in the same boat. I was thinking the first one (the one you returned) but I just wish someone could confirm that it fits on the side! The Gelert extension on the Horizon tents fits on the side and there is a piece that it thrown over the top of the tent and attaches at the back side. Come on Vango, sort your act out!
Right - I have had a chat with Vango and they were more helpful than their website!!!
Apparently both the Large Canopy and Tunnel Extension will fit, however the Tunnel Extension is the best suited to this tent and will "look the best". They both fit on the side of the tent over the porch.
Are we getting somewhere now? Love to see a pic from the first person to get one up!
Thanks for that, saved us a phone call. Must admit, we are now swaying towards the Tunnel extension, looks alot more sturdy. Just gotta find one now in stock, and more importantly the right colour!!

Pretty suprised that Vango said the one in the first link will fit a tunnel tent??
The guys would have to literally be rubbing over the roof of the tent and down the other side surely?
All the porches I have seen from Vango/ Khyam/ Gelert have a large "flap" of fabric which goes right over the top of the tent.
I am looking for a porch for our tunnel tent (Ontario) and no way would I buy something that looks like the one in that first link....that seems patently designed to go at the end of a tent or onto a pod style tent to me.
Neither would I go for the "proper" side porch Vango do.....as the door slopes at the front, defeating one of the main advantages of a porch surely? (keeping water from dripping in through the angled door.)
Or if I wanted something with a smaller (depth wise) footprint I would go for this: Khyam Sun Porch
Both of the above are available in different colours and from the dimensions I have looked at for the Tigris either would fit fine. Better than the Vango one in the first link for sure I reckon!

I have now ordered the vango extension for our Tigris, in the right colour now! If we manage to get it up I will post some pics, but the weather needs to improve first. Decided on that over the Tunnel extension, so lets hopw we made the right decision!

Did you go for this style one in the end you mean?
I really, really don't think that is designed for a tunnel tent, to fit at the side. The guy lines will be rubbing right over the top of the tent for a start, not good....and as it lacks the "wing"b of canvas that goes right over the tent you are still going to get rain entering the tent at the door aperture. The tigris has the small built in canopy which will deflect most of the water but still....
Just my opinion obviously.
EDIT:
This is the type of fitting the canopy is designed for (not tunnels in my opinion):

Though this (very similar, but with bigger "flap" of fabric on top) should fit:

Yes we have ordered the first one, but one with a door on the front, we are a bit unsure, so will hope to get it up with it on ASAP to make sure we are happy with it. Trust me, if I not happy with it it will go back!
Will keep you updated!

You'll have good recourse I suspect as Vango themselves said it would fit if you go and find it doesn't!
Good luck with it and I hope I am wrong (OH says I usually am LOL)
