I bought a easycamp tent from winfields late feb, when we unpacked it on friday to do a practice pitch two sets of poles seem to have the elastic in the middle broken, i called winfields and they have asked me to return the poles and they will have them repaired and sent back to me, is this ok or should i ask for a new set?
also should they pay for carriage back to them or should i?

IMHO they should pay for carriage. You bought a new tent that should be perfect. Any defects should be sorted by them.
The poles are new and just need to be rethreaded so that, in my opinion, is acceptable.
If you are planning on using the tent this coming weekend, it would be faster if you asked them to send you a rethreading kit to do it yourself. Just an idea :)
I'd ask for them to just send me out a new tent, and return the one you hold as faulty (at their expense!). You shouldn't have to wait for any part of a brand new tent to be repaired!

I agree totally but was wondering if they need the tent for easter weekend .
If it is not needed immediately then demand a new tent :)

We had a pole snap on a Vango a few years ago, on our practise pitching. We called the store we got it from, expecting them to send a replacement but they asked that we return the tent. Thankfully, it wasn't too far from home so off we went, and were actually given a brand new tent, still fully sealed whilst they didn't even check the one we'd returned. That suited us and we had no problems with the replacement.
I guess, though, you just need to hold out for what makes you satisfied / happy and, if I were you, I think I'd be happy having the poles threaded. As has previously been said, the poles themselves are fine so there's no point in being difficult with the seller, especially if you think you might use them again.
Good luck with it....

well OH called them yesterday, seems they dont have the tent in stock anymore, so we agreed to have the poles re-threaded,sent the poles off to them this morning then called them again and told them how much postage was (just short of £10), the man at winfields says that they will prob not receive them till thursday and what with bank holiday w/e they prob wont look at them till tuesday!
anyway he says after they have looked at them and seen for themselves that they are new poles they will fix em and refund the postage for us.
we're novice campers, first time this year......so much hassle and ive not been anywhere yet...lol

Awww...hope things work out well and you become as camping-mad as the rest of us on these boards!
Winfields called me today, they received the poles back, they are repairing them for us but also someone else sent the same tent back to them because there was a hole in it, so the nice man at winfields said they checked the poles with the faulty tent and they appeared to be fine so they are sending us them as well!, so we will have a spare set incase anything happens, they will also refund the postage that it cost us to send poles back, so all in all a good result I think.
