hi there,we are absolutelt gutted,we bought a second hand outwell indiana recently and after erecting yesterday have found that there is a hole roughly the size of a rice crispie,in the living area roof space of the tent, not near a seem,in the middle.does anyone have any ideas as to what we should do,as we were'nt prepared for this at all,the seller didn't advertise the tent as having any holes.?if we were to mend what do we have to do?would it devalue the tent with repairs?thanks and we look forward to all your knowledgeable advice!!XX

Hi,
personally I would return it and demand a refund if the seller made no mention of the hole. (of course they may have been unaware if it was caused when it was last packed away). Failing that tenacious tape is usually pretty good for repairing small holes, you may want to reinforce this with some tent fabric on the outside if the roof has lot of tension on it. Tape and fabric are both readily available from camping stores.
Does it devalue tent ? IMO yes.
we got the tent for £230 pounds second hand(they used it 3 times),it's an outwell indiana 8,do you think this was a good deal as we are fairly new to the dearer tents!!!????please advise???

I have repaired several small holes in the roof of one of my tents with tenacious tape. I used it all last year and not a drop of water came through. its just like sticking on a plaster . the tape is clear so hardly shows at all. you can stick one on inside and one outside if you want, but I just stuck them on the outside and they have been fine.
No idea if the price you paid was good or not, the indianna has been discontinued and I can't see a price for it new.
But if you are happy with the layout and general conditon of this tent apart from this tiny hole, I would stick a tenacious tape patch on it and forget about it and just enjoy it..
I have the sunvalley 8 which has a similar size and bedroom layout and find it is the most flexible set up to use .
I replied earlier this morning in your identical post on the other board, thought I was going amd when I could not see my reply here. Text from this morning is copied below:
If you sold it on then you would either have to mention the hole as you know about it or mend it before selling.
However if you want to use it and the hole is as small as you say you can use tenacious tape to fix it. It is clear, fixes very well, is strong and if applied carefully is just about invisible as well as being 100% waterproof. It will also stop any tears spreading (if it is a tear). I would suggest that you apply it to both sides of the fabric where the hole is.We have used it on a tent at a stress point and it did not budge, its also useful for other applications, we have used it on umbrellas as well.
The only other option, others will correct me if I am wrong, would be to send it to a specialist repairer to replace that panel or part of that panel. If feeling brave you could try to mend it yourself by obtaining some tent fabric (Penine Outdoors sells it in various colours and types) and trying yourself.
Once repaired it should be fine.
Have you approached the seller on this for some money back or a refund as it should have been mentioned when you bought it? You never know you may get your cash back to spend on another tent.
