On our first trip out in our Gelert Zenith 8 tent, we managed to break a section of one of the main poles. These are 16mm fibreglass poles, and I've since found out that these are a larger diameter than the ones commonly available from outdoor stores.
My question is does any one know where I might be able to get hold of a replacement? Either a full pole, or just one section? All of the online stores I've seen go up to 13mm but not larger.
Regards
Trebor

we have a zenith 6 and we too struggle to get it back into bag, its just a case of making it the right size square as the bag (if you know what i mean) if you start to fold it too small it is then too thick to close bag, fold it so it is same size as bag then it is thin enough to close bag it made sence in my head when i was typing it lol
and sorry cant help with poles best thing is to keep looking through internet.
I finally bought my Gelert Zenith 8 man tent from eBay, just 1 week later I found it for 100 GBP less!

I paid 250 but could have got it for 150 + pp
BUGGER!
I too am after information on the best way to pack the damn thing back into its surprisingly small holdall. Its a hell of a size! The poles alone weigh about 30kg but they are in a separate bag.
I did video the setting up so maybe I can work the video backwards and see how to pack it up properly.
Re the broken pole, if it was a new tent on its first outing I think you'd have sound grounds to go back to the retailer and ask for a replacement pole. Or as an alternative, go direct to Gelert, but my experience with them has not been that great so far. Legally speaking the retailer is your first port of call as it would appear the pole they sold you was not fit for purpose.
Re the folding of the tent, it IS possible and there is a knack to it! We had a week in the Loire last month and found our Gelert Zenith 8 tent fabulous - acres of space. We also made a footprint from some huge B&Q tarps (as we couldn't find a Gelert one for love nor money!) which was a Godsend for working out where exactly to pitch the huge thing on your bit of campsite! We weren't looking forward to putting it away, but in the end all it required was making sure we squeezed out all of the air as we went before folding each time, and then, as you get towards the final few folds you need to have the tent bag close by to use as a guide for the final fold and roll.
Craig B hit it on the head (see earlier above): you need to make sure that when you are doing the final rolling up of your tent, the width of your folded tent must be EXACTLY the same width as the length of the bag - any wider and it won't fit in the bag lengthways; and any narrower then you'll be rolling up too much fabric and the rolled up tent will be far too fat to fit in and close the zip. So the key is to end up with a long thin rectangle of folded tent with the width exactly the same as the length of the main bag. Make sure ALL of the air is out (rolling yourself along the tent seems to do the trick, though best done by the kids), then roll up the tent very tightly, and use the 2 fabric ties provided to tie it up tightly before you start trying to fit it in the bag - otherwise it will spring open and you'll have to start again!
We even found there was room to put some oddments in there and a couple of mallets! How good is that?!
Going to try it next time. Luckily next time is a music festival just 5mins from my GF place and she has a van! Its a decent fallback position in the event of a fairly certain failure to pack it like you managed.
Thanks for the suggestion. Could you video it next time? ;-) Just joshing.

we found best way to fold Zenith 6 is like this....
first of all make sure the entrance door is opened "UNZIPPED" fold the 2 end bedroom's into middle, then fold them into middle again so you are left with a long narrow sausage no wider than the tent bag (you may need to fold in again) making sure you have at one end of the sausage the main entrance and at other end of sausage you have middle bedroom with entrance/exit (also unzipped) and you fold from this side starting with a little fold and as you fold it over (almost a rolling over actually) you get all air out this is why you leave the doors unzipped so all the air can escape keep folding untill you end up at entrance and this should now fit into the bag, make sure as you fold it over you keep an eye on size of tent bag you need to get it just same size as bag so it fits in. good luck and this is what works for us.... make sure when you are erecting the tent you zip all doors back up to peg it out so that all the zips work properly when erected.
It worked!!!! Managed to get the tent back in the bag!! Thanks for the advice. I didn't think we'd do it but it worked.
Incidentally we had a fantastic time at the Henley 80s Rewind Festival. The tent was the biggest on the site, and we really looked hard to find anything bigger! It did me proud!
One lesson I definitely learned is to invest in a trolley for next time as we had to park away from the tent and carry the rods, tent, massive cooler box with contents, clothing etc.
2nd lesson might be a gazebo to act as a larger porch/shaded area outside of the tent... but I could get carried away with all this.
Does anyone know if there is a video of how to put a Zenith 6 up? I really struggled with my girlfeind errecting the 3 main central poles. It seems all 3 poles need to be folded at the same time. Does anyone have any tips on how to get the thing up?
Thanks!
Chris

Dear Wizza, although I have a zenith 8 the principles are the same and 2 people can do it. Push the central poles into the fabric loops or tunnels provided, then 1 person on each end of pole push the ends into the pin, rotate around and repeat on each pole. Should work.
my name ist Tanja, i´m from germany.
I have also the Zenith 8 from Gelert. But i lost the fibreglass poles.
I know that must be
3 x (black) multi-section fibreglass poles
4 x (blue) multi-section fibreglass poles
4 x (grey) multi-section fibreglass poles
1 x (red) multi-section fibreglass poles
but i don´t know how long must they do.
Can you help me , please ?
i must to know how long in meters are the black, blue, grey and red fibreglass poles ?
sorry for my bad english.
