I had a Montana 6, excellent tent but found it a bit cumbersome and difficult to put up, especially with not much help from my other half (more physical limitations rather than lack of effort) and the fact that it was only really for weekend use.
I have now sold this and am looking for something lighter and much easier to put up but still able to stand a good hammering from the British weather. There are only 2 of us but my Mrs likes the extra room. In the Montana we used to open the 2 bedrooms into 1 room so this is another feature we'd like to have.
I have narrowed down my choices to the Vango Orchy 600, Tigress 400 or Tigress 400 DLX as I didn't really want to spend over £200 but I have also been tempted by the Outwell Nevada M but is it really worth the extra money for a weekend tent plus seems quite difficult to get hold of at the moment?
Any help would be much appreciated - I've spoken to staff in Go Outdoors who don't seem to have a clue..!

RE: The Nevada 4, this is probably a really stupid question but it is being sold with a kids room at the mo and I was wondering if this is an extra or if it just comes with the kids room?

As it has a UNIVERSAL inner tent, i assume that means, that one half will unzip and roll away on the floor to allow the kids room to be attached to it.
The Nevada 4 is smaller than the Nevada M (which by the way we have just bought, it is fab - we stayed in it this weekend). On that basis we had to rule out the Nevada 4. Yes, the Nevada M is as rare as rocking horse poo at the moment, but there is new stock due soon and a new canopy extension comes onto the market in a couple of weeks.
Sorry to here you've sold the Monty, it can be a pig to put up if there is only 1 of you so I can see your reasoning. This issue led me to keep the Monty for week long breaks but then pick up an Orchy 500 which I have found great as a weekend tent and regularly manage to put it up on my own due to the limited assistance that a cheeky 4 year old, adolescent 7 year old and reluctant 10 year old provide.
We manage to sit quite happily inside with one of those blue pop up picnic tables and the clear roof panels make it light and airy. The sleeping area is also ample if not a little cosy when its the 4 of us on Dads camping weekends and very cosy when the OH joins in.
The only real issue is that although the Vango is made extremely well i am still not convinced about the aerodymanics of a canvas dome when it exceeds 1.8 metres in height all the tents that I have had in the past below this height have been excellent in strong winds but above this there always seems to be a degree of buckling but I am yet to have a pole fail (I know tempting fate). Problem is usually solved by startegic positioning of the car.
Anyway happy hunting.

Thanks again for all your responses they've been really helpful. I'm now torn between the Nevada 4 and the Tigris 400DLX. The Carolina is definitely a consideration but is it a tricky as the Monty to erect or could it be reasonably done by one person?
My task today was to narrow down my choices but I've only managed to 'narrow up' if there is such a thing....My choices are
Outwell Nevada 4
Outwell Iowa 6
Vango Tigris 400 DLX
And I've just come across the Coleman Modulus X5 which looks amazing. If anyone has experience of this tent I'd love to hear from you. The main thing being, is it easy to erect?
Hi , I have the Coleman Evolva which is another modular tent in the range . The short answer is yes ,based on my Evolva experience. Also you might want to consider the X7 , which is comfortably within budget at £179.99.

One active pitcher and someone just for the occaisional steady . First outing out myself and DD aged 11 managed it . Once the middle part of the tent is up it is solo from that point . All the tents in your short list are good , but the Nevada 4 is a shortened version of the Nevada M and you would always regret not having that instead. The Iowa will be quick to erect , and could be done solo , but how long before you want a canopy ? Tigris 400dlx again could be solo pitched and again , yu might be thinking of extra space. The Modulous X5 or 7 would give you two tents in one . A weekender whereby you could leave a room off, or with the second room a weekend for four adults , or a full week for two adults and stuff, possibly more . The X7 is on display near me at JR Leisure at Nottingham , and the sleeping areas are very large . Also the door makes the largest awning of all three tents . I think for versatility it is the best choice , and well made too,6000HH and a cool air port to attatch a fan . And if you have only one bedroom attatched, the panel where the other goes could be removed to allow it to be used more as a gazebo.
I'm definitely edging towards the Modulus. I now need to find where there is one pitched nearby. I'm in Wolverhampton so a trip to Nottingham wouldn't be too bad.
