Hi everyone. Apologies to you all for making my first post a cry for help - but I figured after reading stuff on here, that this was the best place to come for some informed help !
Having a little dilemma trying to choose a tent for me and my girlfriend (I've not been camping since I was a kid) and wanted to make the right choice.
Want to make sure I have enough room for us and our stuff, so thinking of going 3 man, but would like a ueable porch area (hence the original selections in the title). Struggling to find a lot of useful reviews on the two I've listed, so if anyone can help - I'd be very grateful. Alternatively if anyone has another suggestion I'd be happy to listen. Budget is sub £100, and I see the Vango is on offer in Go Outdoors till tomorrow at £50 ! Which I thought was pretty good value, but only if it's worth having in the first place haha.
Well, I've rambled on enough, so thanks for reading, I look forward to you responses.
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Hi I had the 350 for one night, so can't go overboard here. I did a review about it. I think it's a great tent, but not suited to our needs. (one night emergency now sold on)
The Kayam also looks ok but can't comment about it, other than it looks like it may have a bit more space at the front. I would suggest the Vango Tamor, as it is a little bigger with standing headroom all round, and I believe that they are going for about £55 at the moment, were £120. I have one of these and I really like it. So for my money it would be the Tamor.
------------- Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.
Thanks Raf, I'll check that out now. I have another which is muddying the waters now too - the Outwell Nevada 3 at £90. Great standing headroom, bigger porch again and is 3000 hh too so better protection still.
Need to make a decision tonight as the offers on the Beta 350 and Nevada end tomorrow
Thanks again,
Mike

I would agree with Raf in the fact that you should choose a tent with full standing height if this is your girlfriends first camping trip - having to bend down all the time may just put her off. Both the Tamor and the Nevada look like good choices, and both Vango & Outwell are well respected brands.
I just came back from the Peak District having stayed in the Vango Beta 350. There should be a lengthy review if you search again in the review section. I was very happy with my 350. You can sort of stand up in it in the porch (if you're short like me and bend your neck), but I can see the appeal of being able to stand up properly as others have said.
Your are wise to look for a tent with a big porch. I found it very useful. Also to ease your girlfriend into camping, an airbed might be handy. I bought a Tesco double airbed for about £8 and one of their electric pumps. But a word of caution, you can't inflate a double airbed and then get it into the Beta 350 through the door, so a foot pump maybe better, unless you have a 12V battery and the relevant connections.
