Hi, new to this and have no idea how the guy ropes work!!! any help will be greatly accepted

Thanks for that, I didnt really explain it to well did I. We purchased a tent recently with the guy ropes fitted, Im just not sure how to set them up correctly to tension them properly? other than knotting them round a peg lol!

Hi Jevsie, it's pretty much how Loreleilee said. I'm not sure on your particular tent, but most guys have one fixing point on the tent, and a big loop adjustable with a plastic runner. Some have 2 fixing points in places, but generally speaking you end up with a big loop, and a runner to make the whole thing adjust in overall length.

The idea is to get the guy far enough away from the tent to give it a 45 degree angle to the ground, and the peg into the ground at 45 degrees. This gives the best staying power. Hook the loop over the peg, then, using the runner, take the slack out of the loop until you have a firm tension. Too much tension will pull the tent out of shape, too little and it's doing nothing. I guess the best way to describe it as a gentle twang if you pluck the guyrope. Once you've done it a couple of times, it will all make sense
