Hi
I was wondering whether people think that in the next year or so, more polycotton tents will become available?
At the moment, I'm leaning towards the Royal Pescara 8 but I'm wondering whether in a year or so, tents like this will be made in polycotton.
What do you think?

Hi,
imo I think there is a growing demand for polycotton tents.Whether the tent makers take note of this and increase their ranges for next year we shall have to wait and see.
I think the Outwell polycotton range is a very good seller and other makers will have noticed this.------------- Sue & Phil

Hi Sue
Hope they will. I like things that last well but can't find a canvas tent that fits our needs at the moment. I'll keep our current tent going a year or two and see what turns up, I think.
Cheers

What needs are these? It could be that you might find one on the dutch web site people have been using.
www.tent-tents.com
Take a look, they seem to have loads of good looking cotton tents.

Totally agree (and I am not biased just because I live here lol)
Some fab tents and the prices are also excellent.

I've had a quick scoot through that site. My trouble is that I'm too flippin' picky. I want 2 very big bedrooms vis a vis where you're not side on to the bedroom door. I want loads of living space. Basically, the Pescara 8 but in polycotton. The trouble is, it'd be v. heavy/ bulky but that'd be ok.
I think it's definitely worth a look around the continental websites, though, as you say.
(Also - love the username. Yep, been there!)

What about the Khyam Indiana 8 (they do a polycotton version of this) and I think it's still in production.
Will look...Images here
Not exactly the same as the pescara but you could add a canopy (dont know if they do a cotton one though)

Thanks Emma
We had a look at this one and a similar one (Gelert I think) but they just didn't seem big enough. Also we have a Khyam ridgi pod at the moment, which we've had a lot of trouble with (pole joints breaking/ fabric and seams leaking etc). We can keep it going a bit longer as we haven't used it for the last 2 years but I'd never buy another Khyam.
Really, I'm looking for a replacement for the Khyam layout that's a lot better quality. I'll have a search on continental websites and hope the manufacturers spot a good trend when they see one!

Sorry that tent's well out of our price range. But thanks for the thought.
Angie, I like that Canyon, especially with the canopy. I'll hunt around for prices etc. Thanks

Anyone whos reads my posts will already know that Im a Pollycotton devotee -
and the sooner we get back to "proper" tents ( and not cheepie things for the sake of Halfords or Argos profitts ) the better !
Why camp in a plastic bag ( however waterproof ) when you can have the luxury of cotton canvas to make you warmer at night and cooler in the day - and enhance your environment by making it quieter and more refined !
You know it makes so much sense - !!!!

Agree with everything Simon W says (except for the spelling of one word)
There is quite a selection out there but the prices do need to come down. I've looked at the sites that Angie is always recommending which proves that we are being overcharged here for what should be a realisticly, attainable for all tent. OH and I are still looking for a polycotton weekend tent - quick to pitch, not too bulky, just enough living/sleeping space for an overnighter - any suggestions?
Hope everyone has a good August and the weather treats us kindly. Still looking for ideas for a couple of quickies in September and October

The Active Leisure Sun Valley is also nice and comes with a tarp that attaches to the tent
But for that or the Canyon, you are looking to pay at least €700
They are top quality tents though
