Still trying to decide which tent to buy... need it for Friday latest so not much time now!

Really not the best time to be buying a tent, but as ours gave up altogether last week and we have week in Cornwall booked, we can't really wait.

DP very keen on the Vermont - I like the size, but am unsure due to a few things:

  • cost (cheapest I've seen is £500, and I'm pretty certain we could pick one up for a lot less than that if we could wait!)
  • sloping "walls" - seems like there's a fair bit of wasted space compared to, say, the Arkansas (which I love but DP hates the new Mocha colour...)
  • porch - still seems a bit enclosed and not keen on cooking in there. Think the tent itself may be a bit too big to get away with a utility tent as well...
  • bedroom size: anyone know if you can fit 2 x  junior Ready Beds in one pod?

On to the Idaho XL... not my ideal tent as the living area seems fairly small for the size of the tent... and not sure about the vis-a-vis type layout. However... they can be picked up fairly cheap and may do the job for the season. Have seen one locally with carpet & extension for just over £300 so quite a saving. Same question regarding bedrooms though: will the Readybeds fit in?

Our only other thought was to buy a smaller tent (but big enough that we could stand a week in it if weather is terrible) which we will use as our festival / weekend tent next year, and buy our "main" tent later in the year when there are more bargains to be had. Any suggestions? We are 2 adults + 2 children. Would probably buy a utility tent too, so wouldn't need as much space for kitchen stuff, etc.

Thanks 17
