Hi

I have returned to camping after many years

Bought a Vango albany 800 - love it - easy to erect, roomy and totally waterproof

BUT upset as pitched it this weekend up in Scotland and the wind blew it over ! Two of the main poles are shattered- the fibreglass sections that encase the elastic are buggered in a few places

The site was full of wrecked tents - one had blown away completey - others the  poles had broken and ripped through the canvas. So we are lucky in that the body of the tent is intact with no rips or tears.

Am assuming its possible to buy new vango poles - anyone know the cost ? as if very expensive we may have to cut our losses as we got the tent cheapish

Anyone know a supplier ?

Any chance we could get poles on manufacturers guarantee basis its a new tent only used 3 times?

Just replace the pole sections which have broken. Valk-scot has recently posted a very comprehensive thread on how to do this.

I doubt if you'll have any luck trying the guarantee claim, as pole damage from weather is usually specifically excluded from the warranty.

We used a company called Tentspares UK and they were excellent.

Is this common with these new style high tunnel tents ?

Hi. Yes you can just replace the sections which are damaged. Just make sure you get the correct diameter and follow valk's advice.

The sections aren't expensive.
