been looking at tents and its come down (i think unless the wife changes her mind) the outwell vermont or the vango amazon.i prefer the outwell due to the fact you can close the tent down completly,

so its looking more and more like the vermont, question is is it worth the extra £50 for the xl and the extra for footprint etc.

will i have trouble getting on sites with the xl?

many thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,
First of all there should be no problem fitting the XL onto a standard pitch as its under 5m wide.Getting the XL over the L depends on how many are going to sleep in it.
And as regards the footprint, imo is a must have bit of kit.It will keep the underneath of your tents SIG clean and save you a lot of time and effort cleaning it when you get home.Where as a footprint groundsheet can easily be brushed and hosed down at home.

i dont believe the wife, she has now just found the vango zanzibar and likes that aswell.

there are 2 adults and 2 kids aged 12 and 7yrs old,i know that they could share but they do fight like any kids, so ideally looking for a tent with 3 bedrooms.

I'll help you there. The Zambezi looks fab, but had a reputation ( only one year in production ) of moonlighting as a sieve , especially around the windows . I would always get the biggest you can afford . I would serioudly consider the Zanzibar , as for the price of the Vermont L , you are getting polycotton ,admittedly losing an enclosed front porch , but warmer in the cold , and cooler in the warm, and a longer lifespan .Have you also considered the Outwell Ohio XL , as that is on offer at Yeomans .

There is also the Florida 6 , which could be had for £405 on price match with Gooutdoors. As for prices , they are being held back a little compared to previous years. I would say it depends if you wish to use it this year or not .The Zanzibar is unlikely to come down , but you might get a fitted footprint or carpet added in . The Vermont is a good seller , though the XL has the greatest chance of coming down as concerns about pitch sizes abound .
