I have a kampa filey 6 which is huge, but would like a small tent for my adult son and his girlfriend.I have looked at pop ups but the groundsheets don't look too great.I'm not sure what size a  pup tent is supposed to be .Any advice appreciated.

A pup tent is what a small 2 person canvas ridge tent was called yonks ago. Nowadays it will mean any smallish 2 person tent, I suppose. If you don't want a popup just get a smallish dome tent, which can be from v.cheap to v.expensive depending on quailty.

Some of these would do the job.

As far as I know there's no specific size for a pup, it's just a tent your "pup's" use.

They do tend to be fairly small though, as your Son and G/F are adult, you might just be better looking an ordinary 3 Berth that's in budget.

An adult pup tent has to be small enough to be convenient and cosy, but big enough to permit...ahem...love making. The reason they're called 'pup tents' is because they're where pups are often conceived.

Just a word of warning - some sites restrict the age of children who can use pup tents.
I was told the definition of a pup tent was "a small 2-3 berth tent with no seperate living area used for the purpose of sleeping only by 1 or 2 children" so you may find your son and his GF need to book a pitch of their own in which case they may as well get a decent size tent!!
