Hi,
just ordered one of these for £50 on e-bay. Spec seems ideal for my requirement for a tough lightweight tent for 2 persons back packing and canoe camping. Couldn't find any reviews though, so if any one has experience of this or the Orion I'd be most interested. Don't worry if its bad news any info is appreciated. Would esp like to know about performance in windy conditions, condensation and if the porch has a groundsheet.
Thanks

Hi,
well tents arrived so though I'd share my first impressions.
Quality : tent seems very well made and finished using good quality zips and fittings. Ripstop material appears very similar to that used on likes of Banshee etc. Not being used to lightweights the ground sheet seems thin when compared with tarpaulin type materials used in our family tents.
Design: Very stable when pitched. Compares favourably to the Coleman Phad I had also been looking at. The porch doesn't have any kind of ground sheet (would have been nice) The reflective guys work very well, and looking at design I doubt condensation should be a problem. The inner tent has what appears to be a rain proof top but with dark mesh panels extending half way down the sides. The windows in the porh are a nice touch.
Size : nominally a three man tent it would be very comforable solo, two people would be ok but if you were using camp beds they would need to be positioned side by side due to tapered shape of tent. As a three man tent- forget it.
Ease of pitch : first time took about about 20mins by the light of a head torch. I would expext to be able to have tent pitched and pegged in under ten mins next time and overall thought it was very straight forward to put up. BTW tent pitches inner first if this is an issue.
Value : only paid £50 so absolutely delighted, tent is widely available for between £90 and £100 on the net, at full rrp of £150 it is starting to compete with some much more established brands.
All in all well worth considering for anyone looking for a cheap, tough, 1 or 2 man lighweight tent.
Finally a review about the Meteor Beyond, thanks for posting. I am thinking of buying one. But I wonder, is the back of the tent very low, sloping?
I mean, is there a risk that your feet touch the innertent, (and flysheet) in spite of the impressive length of the innertent?
And how is the porch? I did not find any good pictures, just the marketing ones. How is the clip system that attaches the innertent to the poles?
Does the colour correspond with the images on the web, or is it lighter, darker? (I will use it for wildcamping, so I cannot have a bright orange 'expedition' (sounds so impressive!) tent. If possible, could you post some pictures? I am sure a lot of people would be interested in this tent.

Back of the inner tent doesn't slope too bad, can sit upright on the ground sheet almos to the back of the tent. I can sit on camp bed comfortably at front of tent.
Wouldn't have thought there would be too much problem of touching inner tent if you positioned your bed ok, there is a fair clearance between inner and fly so don't think that would be a problem either.

The porch is quite small, really only suitable for gear storage or cooking, it has a door on one side with a double zip arrangement so either top or bottom of door canbe opened. The clip system is pretty good, this helps pull all the poles into tension, there are also velcro tabs to attach fly to poles and quick release buckles to attach bottom of fly.

I also plan to use it for wild camping and colour is fine, not quite the 'pea green' in the photos more an olive drab type colour.
Sorry can't post photo's at the moment as I've 'lost' my data cable plus will need to put it up first, still may do in future.
