We've gone for a Minny 6 for 2 of us and a dog so I think you'll be fine. We went to the showroom and put some furniture in the Minny 4 and were amazed at how quickly it looked full and cramped.
We didn't want to buy 2 tents and the size suited us as it's not too huge for a weekend but plenty of space for longer stays. I do like to have a nice open living area and can't stand living out of boxes and bags so we went for the the larger one.We also wanted a tent with full standing height.
I'd go for it
------------- Are you sure you've read the instructions?
You can pitch the Sungari fine between two of you. You will have masses of space!!!!There are three of us and we use one bedroom pod of our Columbia (same tent just higher spec) for storage and have table and chairs, cooking area and a toddler playmat and flalling legs on the floor no problems! You'll have no problems!
Have you looked at the Columbia 5000HH steel poles etc. You'll probably still find one for the same money as the Sungari 600 although discontinued for this year.
You could go smaller, but the 600 is not a problem for two of you!
Already looked at the colmbia and its a toss up which to get, was just a bit worried it may be a bit too big for just the two of us although i really do like them both
Im new to camping having only been twice last year in a small tent but do campsites usually charge anymore for using a tent like this for 2 people.
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
C&CC sites would charge more for the Columbia as the side porch takes it 45cm over their standard pitch width (5m). The Sungari should be OK. In threads on this issue lately, people have said not to bother with the C&CC as there are many more lovely campsites that don't have a problem (searching this site) and it seems that C&CC wardens are 'more than my jobs worth' types. None of the sites we have booked last year or this have had a problem with the Columbia. they seem to have much bigger pitch sizes (eg. 10m x 10m) than the C&CC. Just tell them the dimensions of the tent when booking (you have to anyway) and it shouldn't be a problem for either of the two tents. The only distinction we've encountered is between small tents and large tents. Neither of these tents comes in the extra large category.
Must admit - we'd have probably gone for the 400 for 2 of us or the Kampa Frinton 4 2010 plus canopy as we'd find that as we don't have wardrobes and lots of furniture etc we wouldn't need so much space for 2 (but with a toddler the extra space is great). Use one bedroom inner for sleeping and the other for storage and the portaloo. The living area is then free from clutter.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
