Well i'm back after about 18 months away from the site. I was really poorly last year and never managed to get on here or go camping etc.
Now i'm back to 100% fitness I want to go camping again at Easter. O/h says that the second last time we went away we put the tent away damp hence the last time there were a few leaks etc.
What I was wondering is would it be okay to reseal all te seams and reproof the tent with Fabisil. TBH we can't afford a new tent as i've since been made redundant as well. Our tent a Nebraska XL we bought in 2007 have used it several times and love it, so it's our own stupid fault.
Do you think this would possibly make the tent 'good' again?
Thanks guys and it's good to be back.

I'm newish to camping myself and i#m sure someone with more experience will be along to give you more accurate advice.
Only last year when we went camping with friends they had been 4 weeks prior and it rained constantly so much so they cut there hols short as they were waking up soaked, all there clothes everything was sodden. And they packed their tent away wet and untill we were in wales 4 weeks later they didn't air it.They laid it on the ground attacked it with 2 cans of fabisil then pitched it.Within the hour the heavens opened a storm from hell,I thought we were gonna recreate wizard of oz.And not a drop came in.But i do remember the damp musty smell they were left with from storing a wet tent, not sure if you have this problem too? and how you would rectify it?
Good luck

Karla-------Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
You need to get the tent out, pitch it, get a hosepipe on it and see what you are dealing with. Has it got mould and/or mildew?
Was it mouldy when you used it the last time? I wouldn't expect a tent to just leak because it was put away damp, I'd expect it to be riddled with mould which would have been quite obvious?
Am I remembering correctly that it was the outwells of this age that had trouble with leaky seams or was this something else?
As above, I don't think putting it away wet would make it leak. I read some details from a major manufacturer with regard to pros and cons between synthetic and cotton/canvas. One major point in favour of synthetic tents, was that they diddn't suffer from mould problems if stored away wet !!!!!! ?????? I bet there's a few of us on here would argue that point.
Hope your tent is OK though.

Thanks for the replies, we had used it one since it was put away damp and it did leak, it was on the seams rather than the material itself if i remember rightly.
Trouble is we don't really have he time to put it up and air before we go away at Easter as we are helping his mum and dad move house :-(
I want to try and pitch it in the garden, thankfully i've got a big garden to hold it haha..........
It had a few spots of mildew on but not mould, they weren't that noticeable to be honest.
Special K you're right these were the Outwells with the supposed leaks, but we didn' actually have any at the time, it was only after been put away damp arghhhhhhhh
If it's your seams that are leaking and you can't get it pitched before you go away then I'd take a couple of tubes of seam sealer with you and treat the dodgy patches once you've got it pitched.
If you've got mould or mildew patches you need to treat them, I think the recommendation is a Miltons solution but I'm out of touch with treating non canvas tents.
There are loads of threads about mould/mold and mildew if you do a search.
