I would echo what ybyatt has said. American tents are made for a different climate to ours, we've had a look at quite a few when we;ve been over there. They look good but probably wouldn't after 2 days on a rainy UK campsite. Try and get something at least 2000HH ( which would be hard to find in the US ). There are things worth bringing back though, lol as a lot of their stuff is cheaper than here, but a tent isn't one of the things I'd choose. Anyway now you've given a budget I'm sure lots of suggestions will appear re what is available here.
I intend to have a look at a showroom next week but still looking around at the internet just trying to get a feel for what sort of specs are on different tents.
Looks similar to some of the buy a brand label tents that were sold by individual outlets last year . Instict tells me that they will not be well made . And ultimately it is construction quality that makes or breaks a tent - no good having a HH of 5000 if the seems leak like a sieve .

Must admit I love the look of that US tent, it's very striking and does have some good write ups! But it is worth considering the difference in weather as people have said.
If you want space and are prepared to shop around a bit, I would go for a Vango Diablo 900XP. Bigger than the one in the US so you do need to just check with some sites, but we never had a problem with it. Sadly no longer made, but you could get a barely used bargain on ebay for under £200. Look out for the XP model that has the extra pole on the bedroom pods as this makes all the difference space wise. If your boys like space - they will love this - enough space to play hide and seek on a rainy day! Vango Diablo XP ebay search
If you haven't camped before and aren't sure if you're going to like it, I'd go for the Walmart tent. At the current exchange rate it's gonna come in at around £75, so I'd give it a go and so what if it's a disaster???? You're not gonna get anything that big for that money over here!
If you've got the luggage allowance, go for it!!! If it turns out to be pants, take it back to Asda.
Happy camping

Thanks Eliza, thats what my ex said to me last night.
I do also like a gelert tent I have seen, but its £359.... I am tempted to just give the walmart one a try and put it up in the garden for a test. And as said above if it turns out to be rubbish, take it back and learn the lesson having not lost anything.
Funnily enough I was also talking to my ex last night, a long time a go he did the caravan thing, but sold up. He told em that he has actually been considering a small tent for him and my son for weekend getaways as he is always stuck for things to do with our son. Nice because we can initially share some of the equipment until we have enough money to buy everything we need.
I would also take the children to store that has tents on display and see what they think. Get them to try the bedrooms and close the doors. Close the tent door and see how much space you have then, light etc.
This will give you all an idea of what you will need. When you say they need space, do you mean they need their own bedroom space for time alone.
The colour of the tent can give illusion of space or lack of it.
We have a vango colarado 600 dlx. Fantastic space. But big and heavy when packed up. My daughter who has asd had space to dance and spin in the living area but also space in her bedroom pod for dvds.
We are now looking at an outwell nevada m with porch for weekend breaks as I can't fit the dog in the car with the vango.
Let us know how you get on.
Can you really take a purchase from an American Walmart back to an UK ASDA? I know they are they are owned by same company but they are not the same store.

Hi Rachie, am goibng to go there next qweek and have a look around :)
As for Walmart, Yes Asda do take things back, I know someone who took a Laptop back that was bought from Walmart and I also know someone who took a craft itenm back, no questions were raised.
As has been said all ready the tents from the USA will not really be suited to camping in the UK, due to the fact that the American tents have a lot of ventilation and quite often they only have a small waterproof flysheet that just covers the top of the tent
If you look at that tent that you linked to on the walmart site then I would say that the red bit on the top of the tent is the rain fly and it only covers the top of the tent so I would be worried about using it in the sideways rain that we get in wales
When you are in orlando if you get a chance go into target or super target and look at their tents, none of the stores give over space to fully erected tents but target do have miniature versions of the tents on display that will give you an idea of what the full size tent will be like
Also be careful of buying an unbranded tent that nobody has ever heard of like the ones that you linked to on e bay, there are no end of horror stories on here regarding e bay tents
Your tent is your most important bit of kit that you will buy so do buy wisely, I fully understand that you have to stick to a budget but there are some tents around that whilst they are still a reasonable price they should offer you reasonable protection from the UK weather
